2019 Vitality Blast – Thursday 25th July Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The headline match in the Vitality Blast on Thursday evening is the first Roses clash of the campaign when Yorkshire host their bitter rivals Lancashire at Headingley, in a contest which is live on TV once the Test match finishes.

As well as Gloucestershire vs Middlesex which was much earlier in the day, there is also Surrey against Glamorgan at The Oval to make up what looks like a corking day of cricket in the searing UK heat. We’ll begin the preview with the Roses match.

Yorkshire vs Lancashire

Two sides who already have a win to their name in the competition meet at Headingley where Yorkshire and Lancashire will put their Roses rivalry on the line when they take each other on in a big match in the North Group.

Both these sides will harbour hopes of making it all the way to Edgbaston this season although Yorkshire’s tame loss to Derbyshire means they will need to pull out something special if they are going to make it there. Lancashire looked in ominous form against Durham and it will be interesting to see how a young enough side handles the bear pit that will be Headingley.

I think this will be a high scoring match so the obvious bet is over 40.5 boundaries. The boundary was tough to find here in the World Cup but that was three weeks ago and I don’t think there will be such an issue here. These are two powerful batting line ups and you wouldn’t say either are devastating with the ball. Matches between these two tend to be high scoring affairs and this one can follow suit.

One man who can do the bulk of the scoring as far as Yorkshire are concerned is Nicholas Pooran. He departs for international duty soon and I’m sure he will want to leave with a huge score in a big match. He showed all his class in the win over Leicestershire and should match up well to Lancashire. Lancashire rely a lot of their spin options and Pooran is a brutal player of spin. That makes me think the 11/2 on him top scoring for the home side looks attractive.

Surrey vs Glamorgan

Two sides who have not had the start to the tournament that they would have liked meet at The Oval where Glamorgan head to the capital to take on Surrey who are desperate for a victory after two hefty defeats to open up their campaign.

Glamorgan have a point to their name after a washout in their opening match but they were heavily beaten in their other one so they will be looking to kick their campaign into life too. I’m not sure who I think will win here but I do think we are in for another high scoring game so once again the obvious bet is to side with the runs. We saw over 380 runs here on Tuesday night and I expect to see more than 335.5 runs here.
