2019 Vitality Blast – Tuesday 13th August Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Vitality Blast has had a day off on Monday but it returns on Tuesday with a couple of matches as we head towards the closing stages of the group phase of the competition. All four sides on show on Tuesday have plenty to play for which makes this a big night.

We have one match on the TV while the other one often has a live stream offering so there is no reason to miss any of the action. We’ll begin our preview with the TV game before covering the other match.

Gloucestershire vs Hampshire (18.30)

The two sides who occupy the places immediately below the top four line meet in a massive game at Bristol as Gloucestershire host Hampshire with two huge points up for grabs. The home team will move into the top four with a win while Hampshire move to the fringes of those positions should they come out on top.

Both these sides have won three matches in this competition but Gloucestershire have played the extra match so this is probably bigger for them than it is for Hampshire which is important to remember. Gloucestershire saw a two match winning streak come to an end last time out while Hampshire go into this match off the back of successive defeats, a run they will be out to end here.

Gloucestershire are without Benny Howell for this match and that is a big loss. Hampshire annihilated Gloucestershire in the 50 over competition and I suspect they are going to win this match as well. The concern is that Hampshire’s death bowling has been rank but Gloucestershire aren’t exactly batting all that well. Hampshire are a big game team and I expect them to get it done here.

Jack Taylor is one player who can take advantage of Hampshire’s death bowling. He is coming into form with the bat having passed 20 in three of his last five innings including a solid 42 against Essex. Hampshire have leaked a lot of runs at the end of their innings in this tournament and there probably isn’t a cleaner hitter of a cricket ball in this Gloucestershire side so it stands to reason that he’ll have every chance of top scoring at 11/1.

Derbyshire vs Worcestershire (19.00)

The match away from the cameras comes from the North Group which is as tight as it gets right now with just four points separating second in the table and the bottom of it so every match remaining in this group is going to be extremely significant.

Derbyshire go into this match off the back of a decent win over Yorkshire at the weekend, a victory which got them on the fringes of the big sides in the group but they need another one if they are to get right back into quarter final contention. Worcestershire will move into second with a win and come away from the logjam in behind them.

I wouldn’t like to say with any confidence who will win this match but the likely appearance of Moeen Ali should pep up the Worcestershire batting, which has been more than a touch inconsistent this season. Derbyshire have been hitting the ball nicely in recent times and with that in mind the 318.5 run line in this match looks a little on the low side. There were 315 runs when these two met at New Road and Riki Wessels and Callum Ferguson made 10 runs between them and Moeen didn’t play. We don’t need much for the extra four runs here.
