2019 Vitality Blast – Tuesday 23rd July Matches Tips and Betting Preview

After a day off on Monday, the Vitality Blast returns on Tuesday with a couple of matches as we go through the gears in the domestic T20 competition. There is a heatwave going on in the UK on Tuesday and hopefully the action will match the weather.

There is a match in each of the groups on show with one of the games on TV, that being the London derby, while there are many other ways of keeping up to date with the other game on the card. We’ll begin the preview with the televised offering.

Surrey vs Middlesex

Two sides who have begun their campaigns in opposite fashion meet at The Oval where Surrey take on Middlesex in a battle between two teams who have the potential to win this competition but at the same time could offer up plenty of inconsistencies along the way.

Surrey started their tournament in reckless fashion, taking the mother of all beatings at Chelmsford on Friday night, while the evening before that Essex were soundly beaten by Middlesex thanks to a masterclass from AB de Villiers, the man who may be most likely to dictate the result of this match. If he comes off you would think that Middlesex would go very close to winning here. If he fails they could be vulnerable.

I like a couple of bets in this match. Both attacks went round the park in their first match and given the amount of cricket that has been played at The Oval already this summer it would be no surprise to see some short boundaries in use here. There are some really powerful batsmen on show here even without Paul Stirling and some nice strokemakers too. Given that I don’t really see too many twos on this ground but I expect it to be high scoring I like over 42.5 boundaries in this one.

I’ll also take a chance on Jordan Clark to be the top Surrey batsman. He was hitting the ball very nicely down at Essex on Friday night and with Sam Curran and Rory Burns out of the equation he has less to beat in this match. Clark may well go up the order after his exploits on Friday evening and if he does he is very good value to lead the Surrey scoring but even if he’s down the order he can hit a big enough ball to get himself in the mix when it comes to the top scoring.

Leicestershire vs Yorkshire

The match from the North Group comes from Grace Road as two sides who were pretty heavily beaten in their opening match do battle when Leicestershire take on Yorkshire in what is a big game for both sides even this early in the competition.

Leicestershire were pretty much beaten after one over in their match against the Birmingham Bears on Sunday and will need a much better performance in this outing if they are going to pick up the points. Yorkshire suffered a disappointing loss in their first game as well with Derbyshire being too strong for them. Their batting order in that match was a right shambles and until that gets sorted out I can’t be getting involved in them. This is the classic leave alone match and that is exactly what I’m going to do.
