2020-21 Premier League – Monday 3rd May Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

Another weekend of Premier League action concludes on Bank Holiday Monday evening when the last two games are played out in an extended Monday Night Football where issues at both ends of the table are in the spotlight.

As has been the case throughout the entire season, both the matches will be shown live and in full and although a number of the leading lights in the division have already played this weekend, it should still be a competitive evening of football.

Where to watch

The matches will be shown during the Monday Night Football programme which airs on the Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League channels. The programme begins at 5pm with the matches kicking off at 6pm and 8.15pm.

West Bromwich Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (18.00)

The second derby of the season between West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers opens up the evening action and it is a huge match for the home side. They are strong odds on to be relegated this season anyway but a defeat here will all but seal the deal.

Wolves can’t send their rivals down mathematically but they can knock the proverbial penultimate nail in their coffin with victory at The Hawthorns. Other than local bragging rights Wolves aren’t playing for a lot here and the fear is that they will be on the beach which certainly looked to be the case when they were walloped by Burnley last time out. West Brom have only lost one in the last four matches so they will be confident of winning this match but whether the belief they can stay up remains is another thing entirely. I think the home side will win here but I can’t be backing a team that has won five games all season as a favourite so I’ll sit this one out.

Burnley vs West Ham United (20.15)

The second match of the evening is the bigger of the two as it will effect things at both ends of the table as Burnley host West Ham United. Burnley require the points just to strengthen their claims of staying up while West Ham are losing ground on the top four and need to win to stay in touch.

Burnley did their survival hopes no harm last time out when they absolutely thrashed Wolverhampton Wanderers and a win here will leave them needing one point to stay in the Premier League. West Ham have now lost their last two at the wrong time of the season so they will be eager to find their best form here and get back to winning ways. Defeat to Chelsea last time out wasn’t helpful but the killer was the loss to Newcastle United the week before so both teams will be determined to win here.

I always like these sorts of matches at this stage of the season because it generally means we get plenty of goals as whoever goes behind has to take risks to get back into the game. West Ham have been very leaky defensively in recent times anyway which suggests this might be higher scoring than we might have expected. They have conceded two or more in four of their last five. The clean sheet against Wolves was the first Burnley achieved in eight games so even without what is on the game goals looked likely. Throw in the meaning of it and I like over 2.5 goals here.
