Although the Carabao Cup final is the headline attraction in the football world on Sunday afternoon, we still have three matches in the Premier League on a Sunday card which could go a long way to determining the destiny of the remainder of the relegation zone.
There is no Premier League game in that prime late afternoon slot due to the cup final but the three matches that do take place all do so live on TV in the UK with the deal that all the matches will be covered live while fans aren’t in attendance.
Sunday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off and TV in brackets)
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Burnley (12.00 – BBC One)
Leeds United vs Manchester United (14.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
Aston Villa vs West Bromwich Albion (19.00 BT Sport 1)

Preview
The action begins with a match that might be a struggle to watch if you are wanting buckets of entertainment. That sees Wolverhampton Wanderers hosting Burnley in a match which is pretty big for the visitors. They now sit one place above the relegation zone and although they currently sit six points ahead of Fulham it wouldn’t take much for that to turnaround. A win here would leave them sitting much prettier but Wolves have won their last two so it won’t be easy.
The big match of the day in terms of that entertainment is the second one of the afternoon where Leeds United welcome rivals Manchester United to Elland Road. Manchester United will want to win to keep their Champions League hopes strong but a win for Leeds latches them on to the European places so they aren’t playing for nothing. The final match of the day sees an Aston Villa side who are fading away after a good first half of the campaign hosting a West Bromwich Albion outfit for whom winning can be the only option.
Betting
Leeds United matches haven’t been as high scoring in recent times as we might have expected but I really don’t see their match with Manchester United lacking goals. The reverse meeting between these two ended 6-2 to the Red Devils and while I don’t expect us to get eight goals here, there is no reason why they won’t continue to come along because Leeds still aren’t great defensively and neither are United so the forward players should have things their own way here.
Sometimes we can have fear that a team will park the bus against one of the big sides but that hasn’t been Leeds’ style all season and I don’t expect it to be now. United know that they can’t defend deep and get away with it because their defence isn’t good enough so although the goals might not come quite as freely as they did at Old Trafford earlier in the campaign, I certainly expect at least three for a push here but with a good chance of more.
