Preview

The action begins up at Elland Road where Leeds United will no doubt continue to look to entertain when they host a Burnley side who might be trying to shackle that enthusiasm and continue their own decent recent form. We then move down to the capital for a big clash at the bottom of the table when Brighton and Hove Albion go in search of a win they badly need when they travel to the London Stadium to take on a West Ham United team who have been going well of late despite their loss at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

After that is done the remainder of the day is about two sides chasing the title. The third match of the afternoon sees the champions Liverpool hosting Sam Allardyce and his West Bromwich Albion team before what should be a great day of concludes at Molineux where Wolverhampton Wanderers are likely to be buoyed by the presence of Raul Jimenez at the ground when they entertain a Tottenham Hotspur side who will be looking to build on their progression to the Carabao Cup semi-finals in midweek.

Betting

There is a lot of Premier League action between now and next Monday with only New Year’s Eve not having action over the eight day period so there is no need to chase bets that aren’t there. With that in mind, I’ll take just the one from what looks like a tricky little card on Sunday. The likes of Leeds United and West Ham United both tempted me but not enough to pull the trigger. I will go with one bet though that comes in that contest at the London Stadium although not on the match result.

I like over 2.5 goals when the Hammers take on Brighton and Hove Albion. Brighton don’t win many matches but when they do they tend to be on their travels and that might give them confidence here. West Ham are going along nicely but the only two clean sheets they have kept in their last 10 matches were against Sheffield United and Fulham – two of the lower scorers in the league. Brighton have no problems scoring goals but keeping them out of their net is much more of an issue. Their only clean sheets came against Fulham, Newcastle and Burnley – three more sides who don’t score many. Both teams should get to play the way they want to here so as a result of that I like both of them to find the net.
