2020-21 Premier League – Sunday 7th February Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend continues on Sunday where four more matches take place one after the other on what might be the defining day of football in the campaign, potentially at both ends of the table.

As has been the case for the last few months, the matches are all televised live on the various broadcasters of the league so on a chilly and snowy Sunday why not sit back and enjoy all the action with hopefully a few winners.

Sunday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off and TV in brackets)

Tottenham Hotspur vs West Bromwich Albion (12.00 – BT Sport 1)

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Leicester City (14.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

Liverpool vs Manchester City (16.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

Sheffield United vs Chelsea (19.15 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

Preview

We have four of the big six and probably the next best in action over the course of Sunday and the first of those teams get the day underway as Tottenham Hotspur will look to turn their indifferent form around when they host a West Bromwich Albion side who should be there for the taking with their defensive record. West Brom need to win so it will be interesting to see if they are more expansive. When they are done the Baggies’ arch rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers are on show when they host fellow midlanders Leicester City who might end the day as the only real challengers to Manchester City in the title race.

Speaking of Manchester City, they can take a huge step towards the title when they make the short trip to Anfield to take on the current champions Liverpool in one of the biggest matches of the season. You would think defeat for Liverpool will make retaining the title very difficult but a win has them right back in the mix. The final match of the day will see Sheffield United looking to continue their fight to avoid the drop when they host Thomas Tuchel and his Chelsea outfit who are still to concede a goal under his stewardship.

Betting

I’ll go with two bets over the course of Sunday where I am expecting the recent trend of away wins to continue. The first of those comes in the big match of the day where Manchester City look too big to see off a Liverpool side whose home form has fallen off a cliff and who overall don’t like anything like the side they have over the last two campaigns. City are starting to look like the team who dominated this competition 2-3 years ago and have become a winning machine. Back in those days you felt there was a vulnerability about them defensively but even that doesn’t exist here. City don’t have a great record at Anfield so I am taking a chance that isn’t a mental thing but with Liverpool’s defensive issues and their sudden lack of goals City won’t have a better chance to halt their poor form on this ground. At odds against I think City have to be the bet given the form of the two sides.

After they are done I like Chelsea to beat Sheffield United in a low scoring game. Sheffield United might well take the game to Chelsea here given the results of the weekend so far but I’m not sure they will have a huge amount of success in it because ultimately they are out of their depth at this level. Over the remainder of the season they might be more competitive against sides in the bottom half but while Chelsea aren’t convincing they have stopped conceding goals and often do enough at the other end of the pitch to pinch a game. You would think the longer things go on the more fluent they will get under Thomas Tuchel but the signs are not showing an avalanche of goals on the horizon. I still think Chelsea will win this game because if they match up to Sheffield United their extra class should shine but I don’t see many goals. Chelsea and under 3.5 goals will do me.
