2020-21 Premier League – Wednesday 17th February Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

Two rearranged matches take place in the Premier League on Wednesday evening with events at both ends of the table under the microscope on what could be one of the more telling nights of the season when we look back on it.

As was announced on Wednesday, with fans not being allowed in at present both these matches will be shown live with the respective broadcasters as will every other until supporters are given the all-clear to return.

Burnley vs Fulham (18.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The first match of the evening is a big one towards the foot of the table as Burnley host Fulham in a clash between two sides who are still heavily involved in the relegation scrap. Both teams had encouraging wins at the weekend and will look to build on that here.

I think the perception is that Burnley will pull clear of trouble over the second part of the season. It is a theory that I subscribed to but there are one or two injuries that they are picking up which might halt their progress. Ben Mee misses out here which could be big, while Chris Wood has been on the sidelines recently. Fulham have been playing some nice football in recent times without winning so getting over the line against Everton on Wednesday will have dome them the world of good, but I mentioned going into that game how the Toffees flatter to deceive. You can make a case for both teams to win this game but the odds on neither particularly appeal.

Everton vs Manchester City (20.15 – Amazon Prime Video)

The second match of the night comes from Goodison Park where Everton will look to get back to winning ways when they entertain the champions elect Manchester City in a game which could go a long way to deciding the destiny of the title this term.

Everton go into this game off the back of just one win in their last five outings whereas Manchester City are on this incredible winning run where they have won 16 matches on the bounce in all competitions. Worryingly for Everton, they are showing no signs of letting up either and you’ve got to think this match is theirs to lose. I say that because Everton aren’t the most free scoring side in the world as it is, but without Dominic Calvert-Lewin in their side they looked pretty toothless against Fulham at the weekend so this could be a long night for the Toffees.

There could be a lot of defending for Everton to have to endure here and I expect them to be set up to soak up a lot of pressure and hit on the counter with the likes of Richarlison and maybe someone like Iwobi. The problem Everton have is that City just don’t concede many goals. They’ve only leaked two in their last 11 matches. I don’t see anything but a City win here but it may not be as spectacular on the scoreboard as some have been recently with Ilkay Gundogan having joined the injured list.
