Big Matches

As ever the televised action gets the day up and running and here it comes from Carrow Road as Norwich City host troubled Derby County in a match where both sides will be eager to get on the right track with a win after horrible losses last week. Reading went into the weekend on top of the pile and they play host to an unbeaten Watford side. The other 100% team so far are Bristol City. They head to the City Ground to meet a Nottingham Forest team who also have a 100% record in the Championship this term, although not the one they would like as theirs are three losses.

Best of the Rest

Swansea City and Blackburn Rovers were the other two teams in the top six heading into the weekend and they both have home matches on Saturday afternoon. The Welsh outfit play host to Millwall while Cardiff City are the visitors to Ewood Park. At the other end of the table bottom placed Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to wipe out more of their deduction when they host Queens Park Rangers at Hillsborough while the other team without a point or a goal so far this season, Wycombe Wanderers, will be looking to change all that when they go to a Luton team who have started the season well.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of home wins over the course of Saturday afternoon. The first of those is on a Blackburn Rovers side who I have been very keen on since before the season started and who have proved me right to be so thus far. They have bounced back from their opening day defeat at Bournemouth with two resounding wins and while they haven’t faced much in those two games it isn’t what they have beaten, it is the impressive manner they have done it in. The early signs are that Rovers might not be playing much here either because Cardiff only have one win to their name to date and that came against a Nottingham Forest team who look to have big issues. Blackburn are flying at the minute and I’ll back that to continue here.

The other bet I like comes with my own team Luton Town to beat Wycombe Wanderers. This will be billed on the local radio as a match that is bigger than it is but that might spur Wycombe into action however the early signs are that they are a bit out of their depth at this level, in much the same way Luton looked it for large periods of last season. Luton have turned it around completely though and had star striker James Collins converted a good chance at 0-0 last week Luton might be going in here with a 100% record. Scoring goals has never been a problem for Luton under Nathan Jones and Wycombe aren’t a team who carry a distinct goal threat so this should be a home win.
