2020-21 Sky Bet Championship – Sunday 18th April Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Sky Bet Championship weekend concludes on Sunday afternoon when the final two matches are played out on a day which could be yet another pivotal one in the race to avoid dropping down into League 1.

Of the two matches we have one on TV on Sunday and the other one will have many other ways of being kept up to date with on a crucial day of action with matches beginning to run out and the end of season in sight.

Rotherham United vs Birmingham City (12.00 – Sky Football)

The televised action comes from the New York Stadium for the second time in three days as Rotherham United look to put their defeat to Coventry City behind them when they take on another side battling to avoid the drop in Birmingham City.

A win for Rotherham would move them to within a point of Derby County and the safety zone and they would still have two matches in hand of the Rams. It would also keep Birmingham well within reach as well. A win for the Blues would all but secure safety given the amount of teams that would have to overtake them in order for them to go down. Given that Rotherham played Tuesday and Thursday you’d fancy they will be jaded here but there is too much on this to get deeply involved.

Coventry City vs Barnsley (15.00)

The other match on the day comes from St Andrews where Coventry City will look to build on that important win over Rotherham in midweek and pull further away from the drop. They go up against a Barnsley side who can as good as wrap up a play-off spot with a win.

Coventry were solid enough on Thursday night without being anything spectacular but they will have needed to have recovered fully for this match because Barnsley are a direct and crazy side to play against. They press literally everywhere and never stop and can play into the big forward or utilise the runners around them so if there are any heavy legs in the Coventry side they will be found out here. A draw isn’t a terrible result for either here which is a concern when betting but off an eight-day break since their last match I expect Barnsley to be fresh enough to make this very tough for the home side. If there is a winner I expect it to be them.
