2020-21 Sky Bet Championship – Tuesday 26th January Matches Tips and Betting Preview

This midweek was meant to be free for the Championship sides but with Covid-19 cancelling some of the matches earlier in the season and the FA Cup wiping out another bunch last weekend, we have two games rescheduled for Tuesday night.

In each of the two matches there is a top half of the table side going up against one in the bottom half with all four sides looking to make the most of their game in hand of those around them to better their league position. Unfortunately neither of the games are on TV in the UK.

Millwall vs Watford (19.00)

One of the two matches sees two London sides battling it out when the Sky Bet Championship draw specialists Millwall take on a Watford side who will be looking to move up to the automatic promotion places here, something they will do should they avoid defeat in this contest.

Millwall have been incredibly hit or miss all season. They had some Covid-19 issues in the middle of a rough trot in form which probably didn’t help them much at the time but that was a while ago and they haven’t exactly picked up since then. Watford have been very good at home this term but flattering to deceive a lot more on their travels, although they had a good win at Stoke on Friday night. It will be interesting to see if that was a freak result or if they have finally started to turn the corner on their travels. Millwall remain hard to beat and Watford need to keep convincing on the road so I’ll leave this one alone.

Bristol City vs Huddersfield Town (19.00)

The other match of the night comes from Ashton Gate as Bristol City look to move to within three points of the play-off places when they entertain a Huddersfield Town side who look well placed to avoid the relegation battle of last season but aren’t really going anywhere in the lower half of the table.

It has been either win or lose for Bristol City for a while but there have been signs since the turn of the year that they are getting their groove back after a huge number of injuries hampered them throughout December. Even making a few changes at the weekend they had a good win in the FA Cup and tend to play pretty well on home soil in the main. Huddersfield are flattering to deceive a bit but their road form is very ordinary right now. They have only picked up two points in their last seven on the road, both goalless draws but against Coventry City and Wycombe Wanderers which isn’t a huge convincer in terms of form. Huddersfield tend to concede a lot of goals on the road too whereas Bristol City are usually pretty tight. If there is a winner here there is plenty to suggest it will be the home side.
