Preview

The two televised matches sees the three highest ranked teams on show on the evening in the spotlight. It all begins at Pride Park where Derby will look to continue their climb out of trouble when they host Swansea City who will move back to third if they avoid defeat while in the later of the two games the leaders heading into the round, Norwick City, make the trip to the Madejski Stadium to take on the team who were the early table toppers Reading.

There is a competitive look about the other four matches where Cardiff City host Birmingham City while Luton Town make the long trip up north to take on Middlesbrough. Blackburn Rovers look to have the chance to get their promotion challenge back on track when they host a Rotherham United team who are going well in their first season back in the Championship. Another side who have started their first campaign back at this level are Coventry City and they host Huddersfield Town.

Betting

This is another card where there isn’t a huge amount that stands out to me but I will take a punt on Coventry City to see off Huddersfield Town. I don’t know what it is with Huddersfield on their travels but in their last two away games they have shipped eight goals and not found the back of the net themselves. Indeed they have only picked up one point from their last four away from home so they appear to have a bit of a travel issue at present.

Coventry actually go into this match unbeaten in seven matches which is a pretty good effort given that this is their first season back at this level. That run includes avoiding defeat to Norwich so it isn’t all a favourable spell by any means. While Huddersfield aren’t picking up points away from home Coventry aren’t conceding many goals at home. They have only conceded one in their last four at St Andrews and look to be building some confidence there. I think they have it in them to keep that run going against Huddersfield.
