Preview

The top three heading into midweek are all in action on Wednesday evening with two of them having to travel to attempt to maintain their positions. The leaders Norwich head up to St Andrews to take on Coventry City while second places Brentford make the short trip to take on QPR. The other side immediately in the promotion race are Swansea City and they welcome Nottingham Forest to the Liberty Stadium.

AFC Bournemouth will be looking to get in among that promotion chase over the remainder of the season and if that is going to happen then they really need three points from their game in front of the cameras against a Rotherham United team who will be eager for the points themselves as they bid to escape relegation trouble. A team in even deeper trouble than Rotherham are Birmingham City and they head to the capital to face Millwall. Barnsley welcome Blackburn Rovers to Oakwell in the other match.

Betting

When the odds came out for these matches I couldn’t believe the price on Millwall to beat Birmingham City and to be honest I still can’t. I witnessed Birmingham City with my own eyes on Saturday and they were terrible. Truly awful and probably the worst I’ve seen a side be in the 1.5 seasons I’ve watched Championship football regularly. Millwall have had their struggles winning matches this season but I would be surprised if they don’t win this.

Despite their struggles to win matches, Millwall are undefeated in their last six, winning three of them and drawing the other three. The three draws were confidence boosting ones against Watford, Cardiff and Norwich and there is nothing wrong with any of those results. They have wins over Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday and Reading in that time, the latter being particularly appealing at the weekend. Birmingham only have one win in 12 which was at a Middlesbrough side who were in a slump. Between the pair they have drawn 24 matches this season, including the reverse fixture so I’ll have some draw cover on my side but I like the home team here.
