Preview

The televised game comes from Kenilworth Road where for the second consecutive midweek Luton Town are in action in front of the cameras. They host Nottingham Forest in a match which sees Town boss Nathan Jones going up against the man who mentored him at Brighton in Chris Hughton. A win for Luton could move them into the top six while Forest will be looking for the three points which would pull them away from the relegation zone.

The early kick off comes at Deepdale on Wednesday where Preston North End will go in search of their first goal at home let alone their first win. They host an in form Millwall side while Birmingham City will look to get their first win since the opening day when they host Huddersfield Town in a six pointer feel of a match. The other three matches see AFC Bournemouth hosting Bristol City, Derby County facing Cardiff City and Rotherham United meeting Sheffield Wednesday.

Betting

This looks like a minefield of a card to bet on even allowing for the fact that it is in the fourth game in 10 or 11 days for both of the teams in action. There isn’t a huge amount that stands out in truth although there is one bet I’m prepared to go with. That comes in the match at Pride Park where a struggling Derby County take on a Cardiff City who are proving difficult to beat this season but are searching for a few more wins.

Derby are in the same situation as Preston going into this match. They haven’t just failed to pick up a point at home this term, they haven’t even scored a goal on their own patch and that sort of thing can pile up the pressure pretty quickly. Cardiff aren’t the easiest side to score against either. Goals are proving hard to come by wherever they play for Derby County with them only finding the net three times in their seven matches. Wayne Rooney still being out isn’t going to help them in that quest. Cardiff head to Derby unbeaten on the road and they are yet to concede a goal on their travels which when you think they have been to the top scorers in the division and kept a clean sheet probably accounts for something. Cardiff are a decent price on the draw no bet lines and that looks the best bet of the Wednesday action.
