The latest week of the Icons of Darts event comes to a close on Saturday when the second pool of players shut the action down as the team at Modus Darts continue to bring us our darting fix while we wait for the sport to resume properly.
We’ve seen three excellent groups from the players in pool one this week and there has been some competitive stuff from the players on show on Saturday too. Hopefully we get another wonderful day of darts to round off the week.
The Format
Each day from Monday to Saturday six players will battle it out for a daily title. There are two pools of players, one which plays on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the other which toe the oche on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Each day the six players will play each other once over the best of nine legs with two points for a win. The daily winner is the player with the most points. If players are level on points it is determined on leg difference and then the record between the two. The entire event can be watched on various bookmaker websites, dartshop.tv or the Modus YouTube channel.

Friday Recap
A good day of darts saw Martin Adams show his class once again on Friday when he completed a clean sweep for the afternoon to win all five matches and take the group title. He ended up two points clear of Boris Koltsov who ended his week with a second placed showing. Keane Barry came third on three wins while Jarred Cole finished fourth with a couple of wins to his name. Jose Justicia won his first match but could add no more victories to it but he still finished ahead of Dave Parletti who finished his week without a win.
We went with two bets on Friday and we were getting excited about our 12/1 shot Jarred Cole when he won his opening two matches with ease but he couldn’t pick up any more victories sadly. We did manage to secure a profit on the day courtesy of our second bet coming in when Keane Barry hit four 180s in the match against Jarred Cole. We were on over 2.5 180s but we suggested that either man could cover the line on their own and that was how it proved.
Saturday Line Up
We have seen two different group winners in this second pool of players this week and it will be interesting to see if one of those doubles up or whether we have a fresh champion. David Evans opened up the week with a win when he came through on Tuesday while on Thursday it was the turn of Andy Jenkins to come out on top. Ritchie Edhouse hasn’t won a group so far this week but he is well respected by the bookmakers.
The other three players on show have a little to prove in terms of what they have delivered this week already, but they have all won groups of this competition in the past. Scott Mitchell probably should be doing more than what he has done this week while it wasn’t too long ago that Mike Warburton was finding himself on top spot. Mark Webster has seen his game tail off a little in recent times and will be eager to find it over the course of Saturday.

Outright Betting
Call me mad but I’m going to go with the rank outsider of the six to cause a major shock on Saturday. It is only nine days ago that Mike Warburton won a group and this pool is so much more competitive than for anyone to be 25/1, let alone a man who finished second on Thursday. I’ll readily admit that I don’t think Warburton is the finished article, and that this is a very competitive group even with David Evans in it, but the price on the Welshman is just too big.
Warburton has been scoring pretty well recently so his success or otherwise is going to come down to his doubling. He has the early shift on Saturday so he has the chance to set the pace and while he is nothing like guaranteed to win the group, the 25/1 price is still not reflective of his chances. I’ve said all week that you can make a case for all six players in this pool and we’ve seen that so far with four different players occupying the top three spots so far. I’ll chance Warby at the prices.
Match Betting
I’ll also take the two bets which have served us well in this pool so far this week. The first of those is for the Thursday winner Andy Jenkins to have a bit in hand when he goes up against Mark Webster. We took this bet on Tuesday when it had this slot in the schedule and it looks a good one to be on again. As with Tuesday, Jenkins should be nicely into his work by the time this comes along as it is his third match of the day whereas it is the first one for Webster. Webster lost all five matches on Thursday so his confidence is going to be low and I think Jenkins is in the perfect position to take advantage.
The other bet I like is for Ritchie Edhouse to get the better of Scott Mitchell. We took this bet on Thursday and it landed 5-0 and in truth Mitchell never really got much better throughout the course of the day. The tables are a little reversed on Edhouse here in that it is his first match whereas Mitchell will have played a couple but if Mitchell has slipped up anywhere his motivation could soon slide. Even if it doesn’t, Edhouse has won the last four meetings between these two men and he is generally playing pretty well. On what we’ve seen recently I expect Edhouse to win again here.
