2020 Vitality T20 Blast – Sunday 13th September Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Vitality Blast continues on Sunday afternoon with five more matches from the competition and as the end of the group stage is beginning to loom large, each of these games carries extra significance and importance.

The ODI takes up the television coverage on Sunday so again we are reduced to the live streams that the counties have, but as we’ve said regularly throughout this tournament they are of a decent standard so there is no need to miss any of the action.

North Group

We have a couple of matches from the North Group to keep us entertained on Sunday afternoon. Derbyshire host the leaders of the section at Trent Bridge when they meet a Nottinghamshire side who are fortunate enough to be playing an away game on their home ground. The other match in the group sees Leicestershire in third heading to Durham who are fifth in a really important match for the visitors as they chase a spot in the top two and the quarter final position that would come with such a finish.

Central Group

We have a full set of matches in the Central Group on Sunday and it is a big day for the top three who can all pull clear in the race for those quarter final spots. Gloucestershire make the short trip to Taunton to take on a Somerset side who are surprisingly struggling a little in this section. Somerset have to win to keep their qualifying hopes realistic. Elsewhere there is a derby clash between Worcestershire and Birmingham Bears at New Road where the Bears are very much in the quarter final hunt. The other team who can make it through and are controlling their destiny are Northamptonshire and they head down to Cardiff to face Glamorgan.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of Sunday. The first of those comes in the Central Group where it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me that Gloucestershire are the outsiders in their match with Somerset. Gloucestershire are on a nice roll at the minute having won their last four matches and now they take on a Somerset team who really are flattering to deceive at present. Somerset look like a team who are badly missing Tom Banton and with James Hildreth also likely to be missing this match you would have to say the Somerset batting looks more than a touch on the light side. Gloucestershire are on fire with the bat at the minute and they are performing brilliantly with the ball. They are better than the Worcestershire team that Somerset lost to on Friday night so I’m on the visitors here.

The other bet which has caught my eye is the over 11.5 sixes in the match between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. This match is actually taking place at Trent Bridge rather than at Derby so the sixes line isn’t as high as it might originally have looked. The other reason why it isn’t that high is because this Derbyshire attack has been getting some right Reggie Biffington done to it in recent times. Durham, Lancashire and Leicestershire have all battered it this season and you’d think this powerful Nottinghamshire side would gladly tuck in too. Derbyshire have a few who can clear what aren’t huge boundaries at Trent Bridge themselves so over 11.5 sixes feels right here.
