2020 Vitality T20 Blast – Wednesday 2nd September Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Vitality Blast continues on Wednesday when matches take place in two of the groups as we begin to roll towards the halfway mark in the group stage of the domestic T20 competition. All the teams have got some games under their belts so should be fully up to speed now.

With the international cricket over for a couple of days this is the time for the Blast to take the televised limelight and there is one match in front of the cameras in the evening. The county streams are doing a good job on the other ones though.

North Group

We have a full fixture list in the North Group on Wednesday and that begins in the afternoon when Lancashire take a home match over to Liverpool while Old Trafford is being used by England. They go up against the early pace setters Nottinghamshire in the pick of the matches on the day. The other two matches are evening encounters and they see Yorkshire looking to bounce back from their defeat to Nottinghamshire when they host Leicestershire, while Derbyshire take on Durham in a home match which will be played on the home ground of their opponents.

Central Group

The televised match comes from the Central Group on Wednesday evening. It is staged at the Edgbaston venue where the tournament will finish next month as the Birmingham Bears look to bounce back from their defeat to the Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Tuesday evening, when they welcome a Gloucestershire side who will be buoyed by their fine win at Worcester on Sunday afternoon and who will fancy their chances in this one.

TV Match Betting

I’ll go with one in the TV match on Wednesday and that is on the visitors Gloucestershire to win the match. In truth I don’t think there is a lot between these two sides but it might be significant that Gloucestershire have been operating in the South Group in recent times and playing some top outfits without being disgraced by their efforts. It means when they go up against these established sides they have no fear and that is a lot of the battle.

The big thing for me here is the scheduling which has gone against the Birmingham Bears. I’m like a broken record with my constant talking about teams struggling to back up a performance the following day, especially a heavy loss like the one Birmingham suffered at Northampton on Tuesday. We are a little early in the tournament to use form as a guide to assess these two teams but if I was to do that I’d say that Gloucestershire’s win over Worcestershire was better than Birmingham’s over Glamorgan. Time will tell if that is right or not but in an evenly matched tussle I’ll go with the fresher side which is Gloucestershire.

Other Matches Betting

The other matches all come from the North Group where sadly the weather forecast is pretty ordinary so there seems little point in getting involved in those matches. That is a shame because I was hoping there would be some betting potential at Headingley where Yorkshire have laid a marker down but where Leicestershire played well in the Monday double header. With the rain likely to void most markets there seems no point in getting involved though.
