2020 WDF Remote Darts League 2 – Monday 25th May Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The second set of matches in the Remote Darts League 2 draws to a close on Monday night when the four players who to date have only been in action once in the campaign are back on their home oches in the search for more points.

There is a bit of a pile up at the top of the table heading into the evening and with the two remaining 100% records on show over the course of the night, things are likely to get even more congested by the time the final dart is thrown.

The Format

The league phase of the competition will see the 16 players play each other once over the best of 10 legs across the first 20 nights of the season, with two points for a win and one for a draw. Four players play each night and compete in three matches in the sessions they play, so all 16 players will play in just five of the first 20 evenings of the campaign.

At the end of the league phase the top four will go into the playoffs on the final night where the semi-finals are played over the best of 15 legs and the winner will be determined over the best of 19 legs. The entire tournament is being streamed on the Remote Darts League YouTube channel and various bookmaker websites.

Sunday Recap

It was a good night for Darren Herewini on Sunday evening as he picked up a couple of wins and a draw to make good headway in the league table after a disappointing opening showing. The action kicked off with Tony O’Shea easing past Stacey Pace 6-0 before Herewini and Richard Veenstra then drew 5-5. There was another draw involving Veenstra in the next match when he finished level with Tony O’Shea before Herewini cruised past Pace and then outlasted O’Shea. The night was rounded off with a convincing win for Richard Veenstra and he dismissed Pace 6-0.

It was a third annoying betting night for us in a row in this competition, leaving us with plenty of work to do moving forward in it. We went with the one bet which was for Veenstra to hit the most 180s against O’Shea and despite O’Shea not registering a single maximum, the Dutchman didn’t either so that was a bet which lost somewhat annoyingly.

Preview

We could be set for the best night of the tournament so far with three very competent male players on show as well as the one woman who has been truly competitive thus far. We get underway with two players as far apart in the world as could be time zone wise with Justin Thompson taking on David Cameron. Defending champion James Richardson will then put his 100% record on the line against Laura Turner before the winner of season one stays on to face Justin Thompson in a battle of the two remaining perfect records going into the evening.

Laura Turner could prove to be the star of the show in the second half of the night as she plays twice in succession. She will face the relentless 180 hitter David Cameron before pitting her wits against out ante-post pick Justin Thompson. The night is then rounded off with Cameron meeting Richardson, after which everyone in the field will have played six matches and the league table will paint a truer picture.

Betting

This has the feeling of a night to watch and enjoy rather than heavily bet on it but betting is what we do and there is one bet we like. We have to wait until the final match of the evening for it to come along as the defending champion James Richardson takes on David Cameron in what should be a great match. We’ve seen in the first season and the first night of this one that Richardson is the man to beat but if anyone can do it Cameron might just be the man.

I’m not going to risk that being the case though. Instead I am happy to take over 3.5 180s in the match. Given that this is their final match they should be nicely into their work by the time they face each other and this pair are two of the better scorers in the competition. Cameron hit a phenomenal 10 180s in his first night on show while Richardson hit six. There wasn’t a single night in the first season that Richardson didn’t hit two 180s and if that trend continues here he has got half of the tally. Cameron hit two in two of his matches and six in the other last week. This line looks perfectly attainable to me.
