2020 WDF Remote Darts League 2 – Saturday 6th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

Four more men concludes their regular season campaign in the Remote Darts League on Saturday night on what is the penultimate evening before the finals take place in the second term of this intuitive competition.

There is a real logjam for the places in the semi-finals at the minute and four men who are all involved in that will be on show on Saturday on what is by far the biggest night of the tournament so far. There is a chance for someone to seal their spot in the last four.

The Format

The league phase of the competition will see the 16 players play each other once over the best of 10 legs across the first 20 nights of the season, with two points for a win and one for a draw. Four players play each night and compete in three matches in the sessions they play, so all 16 players will play in just five of the first 20 evenings of the campaign.

At the end of the league phase the top four will go into the playoffs on the final night where the semi-finals are played over the best of 15 legs and the winner will be determined over the best of 19 legs. The entire tournament is being streamed on the Remote Darts League YouTube channel and various bookmaker websites.

Friday Recap

It was ladies night on Friday and as was expected it was a good night for Lorraine Winstanley who won all three of her matches to finish her campaign in style. There were a couple of wins for Laura Turner who beat the two stragglers in the field while Stacey Pace landed a victory over the night to end her campaign with something in the win column. That luxury was not afforded to Tina Osborne who lost all three matches on the evening although to be fair she played much better than that.

It wasn’t the night we were looking for betting wise. We took Lorraine Winstanley to win well against Tina Osborne and while she beat the Kiwi she missed doubles at the wrong time to allow Osborne to stay close to her and in the end the Kiwi probably should have got a draw out of the game. We needed Winstanley to win 6-2 or better but she won 6-4 to end our winning run in the competition.

Preview

This is the biggest night of the tournament so far with all four men within three points of the semi-final places going into the night so whoever can pick up three wins, if anyone can, will give themselves every chance of extending their competition. The night begins with John O’Shea meeting Richard Veenstra with the winner going up to third place in the table with matches to come. Joe Chaney then meets Justin Thompson in a match the Australian can’t afford to lose.

Chaney then stays on to meet O’Shea in what could be the defining match of the entire season for both men before the match of the night sees Justin Thompson going up against Veenstra. The Australian then concludes his regular season campaign against O’Shea before the final match of the night could determine which one of Veenstra and Chaney makes it through to the semi-finals, if indeed either of them do.

Betting

We have seen a lot of missed doubles in this tournament and with the pressure that is on the players here I’ve got to think there are going to be plenty more over the course of the evening so I don’t really want to get too involved in the match betting across the night. I do expect some really close matches though given what is at stake so there should be the potential for plenty of big scores and drama across the evening.

That makes me think the 180s markets are the ones to focus on. I’m not getting involved in any of the games involving Justin Thompson because there are no rhythm to those games whatsoever. The matches that include Richard Veenstra both have a 3.5 line which is a little on the high side but the 2.5 line between Joe Chaney and John O’Shea is much more appealing even at 3/4. Chaney didn’t actually hit a maximum in his last showing in this tournament but he hit plenty before that. O’Shea hit eight 180s on the last evening he was on show so on that evidence the Irishman could cover this line on his own. I think Chaney will contribute to the scoring though so the over looks fine to me here.
