2020 World Series of Darts Finals – Day 2 Tips and Betting Preview

The World Series of Darts Finals continues on Saturday evening when the seeded players come out to play in Salzburg for the first time this weekend and therefore in front of a crowd for the first time in six months.

We had an excellent night of action to start the tournament with high profile wins for Glen Durrant over Dimitri Van den Bergh and Jeff Smith over Fallon Sherrock among others and we should get a whole lot more good action on Saturday evening.

First Four Matches

The former champion James Wade has the honour of kicking things off on Saturday evening. He goes up against the dangerous Jeff Smith, who might need a little more scoring power than he displayed when coming from 5-1 down against Fallon Sherrock on Friday. Nathan Aspinall will follow them when he takes on Darius Labanauskas before Daryl Gurney starts his quest for a third TV title. He will go up against Cody Harris who shocked Dave Chisnall on the opening night. We then reach the halfway mark for the evening with Gerwyn Price taking on Vincent van der Voort who absolutely walloped Joe Cullen on Friday night.

Later Four Matches

The final four matches of the night have world champions everywhere you look and no shortage in class and quality either. Rob Cross takes us into the second half of the evening when he goes up against Steve Beaton before the reigning champion of the world Peter Wright faces off against the rising Australian star Damon Heta. The match of the second round is the penultimate game of the evening as Michael van Gerwen takes on Glen Durrant in a battle of the former world champions before the man dubbed a world champion in waiting, Michael Smith, takes on Krzysztof Ratajski in what looks a cracking way to end the night.

Betting

As I said on Friday, I’m not a massive fan of betting on these best of 11s in these events but there is one which I think is a good bet and we have to wait for the last match of the night for it where Krzysztof Ratajski takes on Michael Smith in a match the Polish Eagle has a little bit going for him here. We should start by saying Ratajski is a good player in his own right but he has also had a match on the stage which might be important this weekend with crowds back in and things.

Smith is the seeded player here and in normal circumstances you would probably favour him to come through but I’m more than a touch concerned about how many doubles he is missing at the present time and with that in mind I think he is vulnerable. As good as he is he won’t be able to get away with missed doubles in a best of 11. When you add in that Ratajski will be acclimatised to conditions I think the man from Poland is the bet here.
