2021 ATP Indian Wells BNP Paribas Open Tennis – Day 6 Tips and Betting Preview

The third round of the BNP Paribas Open concludes on an exciting looking Tuesday at the ATP Indian Wells tournament as we begin to jostle for the business end of the competition out in the Californian desert.

One or two shocks have started to form in this event which is likely to keep the big names on their toes on Tuesday, where we have just the seven matches rather than the planned eight following the withdrawal of John Isner.

Stadium 1

It all means we have just two matches on the main court on Tuesday. The first of those is the third and final match of the day session as Andy Murray bids for a place in the last 16 when he takes on Alexander Zverev between whom there is a bit of a war of words brewing after the former has spoken out on his views on the allegations surrounding the latter. The other men’s match comes along second in the night session when Stefanos Tsitsipas meets the enigmatic Italian star Fabio Fognini.

Stadium 2

We have three matches to enjoy on the second court on Tuesday with the first of those seeing out pre-tournament outright pick Matteo Berrettini going up against the American ace Taylor Fritz before a repeat of the Olympic semi-final from Tokyo a couple of months ago as Karen Khachanov takes on Pabloe Carreno Busta. They are both in the day session and there is one match from the night session which sees Gael Monfils looking to make the last 16 when he goes up against the South African former Wimbledon finalist Kevin Anderson.

Stadium 3

That all leaves us with two more matches out on Stadium 3 where the action is mixed in with the women’s competition. We have to wait until the second game of the day for the men to appear and when they do Albert Ramos-Vinolas will take on Nikoloz Basilashvili before deep into the desert night the other match takes place. That is an intriguing encounter between Cristian Garin and the Australian number one Alex de Minaur.

Betting

I’ll stick with the one bet over the course of the day on Tuesday and it comes in that Olympic rematch between Karen Khachanov and Pablo Carreno Busta. The Russian won that match but I fancy the Spaniard to get his revenge here. Khachanov hasn’t really kicked on since he lost out to Alexander Zverev in the Olympic final whereas Carreno Busta beat Novak Djokovic for the bronze medal in Tokyo and reached the final in Metz a couple of weeks ago.

It might be significant that Carreno Busta has won the two clay court meetings between these two men. I say that because the courts in Indian Wells are a lot slower this year, whether that is a conscious thing or the fact we are playing it seven months later than usual I’m not sure but it is the case, and that should suit the Spaniard. The main two courts in particular are hard to hit through so the clay court prowess of PCB should give him enough of an advantage to get the job done in this one.

Tips

Back P.Carreno Busta to beat K.Khachanov for a 3/10 stake at 1.91 with William Hill
