2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup – Monday 12th July Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The CONCACAF Gold Cup continues on Monday evening when the opening matches from Group C will be played out in Orlando as four more sides begin their campaign to win the tournament and receive the invites that come with it.

That means that we see the likes of Costa Rica and Jamaica showcasing their credentials for the first time on Monday evening in what should be an entertaining double header with this group looking a little more open than the first two.

Jamaica vs Suriname (23.30)

The opening match on Monday evening is a very interesting encounter between a Jamaica side who will be expected to come out of the group and a Suriname team who are one of the improving outfits in this part of the world who are more than capable of an upset here.

Jamaica have gone down the route of recruiting players who would have been eligible for England but haven’t been used, bulking up their squad with quality, although not all of those options have been selected for this tournament. They are still in the gelling in period of those players but when that happens then the likes of Ravel Morrison, Daniel Johnson, Andre Gray and Bobby Decordova-Reid should bring quality at the high end level for this part of the world. Suriname aren’t too dissimilar to Jamaica. They have recruited a lot of players from the Eredivisie with Dutch heritage while some of their squad play in decent leagues in Turkey, Germany and Israel. That means that the quality on show here should be high which makes me think that over 2.5 goals is the way to go forward here. There are plenty of goals in both these teams and I’m not sure either are as strong defensively as they would like. Over 2.5 looks good to me.

Costa Rica vs Guadeloupe (02.00)

The second match of the evening sees the top seeds in the group in Costa Rica taking the side who qualified through the qualification tournament in Guadeloupe in a match which is widely expected to be a little one-sided.

Costa Rica are the team who are expected to dominate this match but they have never really been a dominate team despite all the possession that they have so it will be interesting to see if their cutting edge comes out a little here. Guadeloupe should be there for the taking but they have come through the qualifying event and the two sides who have come through that and played so far have both put up creditable efforts so maybe it would be foolish to overlook them. I’m happy to watch this one and assess how these two perform before attacking their later matches.
