2021 World Championship Snooker – Day 15 Tips and Betting Preview

Saturday is the day in which we will find out the identity of the two men who will compete in the World Championship final inside the Crucible Theatre over the weekend on what is often one of the most dramatic days of snooker of the season.

That was certainly the case last term when this particular day of the Championship delivered a day of snooker that has never been seen before and the likes of which we may not see again, even allowing for how nicely poised the two semi-finals are going into Saturday. If we see half of the drama we got last year we are in for a brilliant day!

Day 14 Recap

Things moved on in both semi-finals over the three sessions of play on Friday. The action started and ended with the top half semi-final which saw Stuart Bingham and Mark Selby resume at 4-4 only for Selby to take a 9-7 lead at the halfway mark, however it is Bingham who holds an advantage going into the final session. He leads 13-11. Kyren Wilson began Friday with a four frame lead over Shaun Murphy at 6-2. The pair drew a brilliant session so they sit 10-6 to Kyren at the midway point ahead of their two matches on Saturday.

In Play Betting

As with Friday we have a couple of matches to bet on and I’m going to focus on the one which is three sessions in. I’ve already got a bet on Shaun Murphy to win the other match and I’ve a feeling there might be a turning of the tide but I would rather see how the third session plays out before I put a bet on. We’ve already seen three sessions of the match between Stuart Bingham and Mark Selby and I think we’re set for a tight finish.

Bingham dominated the third session to lead 13-11 but anyone who has watched Mark Selby in this tournament in the past will know he isn’t going to go without a fight. The positive from his point of view is that he has only really played for three frames in this match so his best snooker is very much to come. We also know that as the pressure intensifies he gets better and better. That isn’t to say that Bingham bottles anything. He’s already won two deciders this year so he has plenty of bottle but at some point the winning line will be there for him and it might take him a frame or so to reach it given the prize that is waiting. The frames line is now 31.5 which means we need 17-15 either way for the over to land and I expect this to end 17-15 or 17-16 from here. In order for it now to Selby has to win 6-1 from here which is unlikely given how close the match has been. Bingham needs to win 4-3 and while that has more of a chance I expect Selby to come out firing. I think we get to frame 32 before this classic semi-final concludes.
