The second day of action in the BDO World Darts Championship sees the preliminary and first round of the men’s event continuing along with a couple of matches in the women’s draw on what is another stacked card at the Lakeside Country Club on Sunday.
We saw some cracking matches to start the tournament on Saturday and there are some more juicy looking encounters for us to enjoy on Sunday too as the event brings out the big names once again.

Afternoon Session
The day gets underway with the defending men’s champion in action when Glen Durrant takes on Gary Robson for a place in the second round. All eyes will be on Durrant to see what form he is in but we know Robson is playing well having seen him on Saturday. The second game is a preliminary match between Umit Uygunsozlu of Turkey and Chris Harris of Wales.
We then have our first taste of women’s action as the beaten finalist last year Corinne Hammond takes on the highly talented but surprisingly unseeded Fallon Sherrock in a match the bookmakers are struggling to call. This one is good enough to be a final in truth. The afternoon then ends with another cracker between Ross Montgomery and the twice champion Scott Waites.
Evening Session
We begin in the preliminary round in the evening session as Dennis Nilsson looks to book a place in the first round against Jim Williams later in the week when he plays Jeffrey Sparidaans of the Netherlands. The women’s match follows them as Sharon Prins takes on Maria O’Brien in another match the bookmakers make even of two.
Our outright pick Derk Telnekes looks to book his spot in the first round of the tournament when he faces fellow debutant and countryman Chris Landman with Geert de Vos awaiting the winner while the action concludes for the day with Wesley Harms facing Wayne Warren.

Betting
I like two bets over the course of the day on Sunday. In the final match of the afternoon session I fancy Ross Montgomery to cover a 3.5 180s line against Scott Waites. I think this could go the same way as the two heavyweight matches on Saturday with a lot of close sets and potentially a deciding one so there should be plenty of time for ‘The Boss’ to make it to four 180s. We saw in the Grand Slam how well he is scoring these days so I’m happy to be on the over there.
Wayne Warren is appearing at the Lakeside for the third time and he is still looking for his first main draw win. I think that search is going to continue after Sunday though as I fancy Wesley Harms to beat him and do so quite comfortably. Harms loves the Lakeside and has a good record here and after a decent year on the circuit he should be confidence coming in. Danny Noppert has taken some of the Dutch attention and pressure off him so the Sparky can play his darts and come through 3-0 or 3-1.
