NFL 2024 – Las Vegas Raiders @ Kansas City Chiefs Tips and Betting Preview

It is Black Friday over in America and to celebrate the occasion we have a match in the NFL 2024 season which comes from the AFC West where the leaders Kansas City Chiefs will look to take a step closer to defending their title when they host the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Raiders are having a season to forget and have been assigned the task of party poopers for a while now. There is no better team for them to take down than the Chiefs so that will act as their motivation for this Arrowhead showdown.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are 10-1 for their season so another couple of wins and they are going to be nicely placed going into the playoffs, however their aim from here will surely be on the number one seeding in the AFC and while they are currently in control of that position, they will need to keep winning for that to remain the case. You can argue that they haven’t looked convincing very often this season but this league is all about winning not running up the score.

The Chiefs were knocked off their stride a little bit in Buffalo a couple of weeks ago but bounced back to winning ways with another less than convincing win in Carolina last week. This will be their first home game since they edged out the Denver Broncos back in Week 10. The offense is doing enough to get the job done but largely this is a side which has allowed their defence to get them over the line. You sense they will need their offense to play a bigger role over the next couple of months if they are to grace the Super Bowl once again.

Las Vegas Raiders

There was always the potential for this to be another season of struggle for the Las Vegas Raiders but I would imagine nobody would have expected them to be 2-9 for the year and already you wonder how much they are starting to think about getting a lofty draft pick and ensuring that they can rebuild with that selection. The Raiders were 2-2 for the campaign at one point so they have lost the last seven matches and have only been within a score of the opposition in two of those games.

The Raiders have coughed up 29 points or more in five of those latest seven defeats and that is never a good outcome but you would imagine if that defence doesn’t tighten up here they could get blown away. The Raiders have put up double digits for points in all of those matches so if they can find some defensive stops from somewhere then there is enough in this offense to have them competitive at the very least.

Betting

I expect the Kansas City Chiefs to win on home soil but I’m less certain that they cover around a 12.5 point spread on what is still a fairly short week even if it isn’t as short as the teams who played on Thursday had. Las Vegas Raiders will be motivated by the holiday and primetime aspect of this match but I still can’t see them winning the game. They did stay close in the reverse meeting between the two and that makes me stay away from the spread.

If Las Vegas are going to be competitive, and to be fair even if they are not and they get blown away, you would imagine their quarterback is going to throw well beyond 200 yards given that the Raiders have the worst rushing attack in the league and are missing their two main components of that game. They do have enough in the aerial attack though and if there is a weakness in the Chiefs’ defence it is their passing one. Aidan O’Connell has a passing yards line of 207.5 which I expect him to surpass in a match Las Vegas are unlikely to be in front in for too much and even if they are they could find running the ball tough.
