Africa Cup of Nations 2021 – Saturday 15th January Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Africa Cup of Nations tournament continues on Saturday when it will be Group D which is in the spotlight on a day where one of the fancied runners in the competition will be under pressure to keep their campaign alive.

We only have two matches in the competition on Saturday but two of the better teams in Africa will be on show to keep us entertained as we start to edge closer to the business end of the tournament with the final group games on the horizon.

Where to watch

Both these matches will be shown on the Sky Sports Football channel although you might need a red button or online option to watch the start of the first game as for some reason the Soccer Saturday show looks to be on three channels at the same time initially.

Nigeria vs Sudan (16.00)

The opening match of the day sees a Nigeria side who looked very impressive in their opening game taking on a Sudan outfit who looked anything but that as they got their campaign underway in what should be a bit of a procession for the Super Eagles.

Nigeria have a history of beating themselves in these things and when they changed their manager a month before the tournament started it looked like they might be doing that again here but they were arguably the most impressive of all the 24 sides in their opening match. They beat Egypt 1-0 which in itself is a good result but how they only scored just one goal nobody knows. Sudan were on the back foot for most of their match against Guinea-Bissau earlier in the week and got lucky when a late penalty was missed against them. Nigeria restricted Egypt to next to nothing in terms of attacking potential so it is hard to see Sudan getting much joy here. That makes me think Nigeria will have the class to win this and win it well. I’m not normally one for backing large handicaps in Africa Cup of Nations events but already in this round we’ve seen Cameroon and Morocco put lesser sides to the sword and Nigeria can add their name to that list.

Guinea-Bissau vs Egypt (19.00)

The second match of the evening is a big one for the two teams involved as Guinea-Bissau and Egypt go about getting their first win of the tournament and ease the pressure on themselves going into the final round of games.

Guinea-Bissau have left themselves with a lot of work to do after failing to beat Sudan in their opening game. They might be left ruing a late penalty miss if they exit the competition at this stage but they might not be without a chance here against an Egypt side who looked absolutely rotten in their loss to Nigeria in the first game and who have to get something out of this match to stay alive in the competition. You sense they will probably come on for the run in this event with Carlos Queiroz relatively new in the role as head coach but even so they should be better than they showed in that first game. I’ll need to see it to be sure though so I’m happy to leave this one alone.
