ATP Miami Open Tennis 2025 – Day 7 Tips and Betting Preview

The entire round of 16 will be played out at the ATP Miami Open on Tuesday when the eight matches take place on the two main courts at the Hard Rock Stadium as we set up the quarter finals in the second Masters 1000 event of the season.

We’ve lost some big players over the course of the opening rounds but some still remain and will be looking to make it through to the last eight in a tournament which is really starting to have a wide open feel about it.

Stadium

Three of the eight matches will take place on the Stadium on Tuesday and we get underway with a men’s match as Gael Monfils will look to secure a spot in the last eight when he takes on the home star Seb Korda. A women’s quarter final follows that but when the men return to the court the exciting Lorenzo Musetti meets Novak Djokovic. The other women’s quarter final opens up the night session but the action on the main court concludes with a men’s match between the number one seed Alexander Zverev and the French player Arthur Fils.

Grandstand

The other five matches from the men’s draw come along one after the other on the Grandstand and we get started over there with Grigor Dimitrov looking to make the last eight in Miami once again when he takes on Brandon Nakashima. When they are done the number five seed will look to justify his seeding by making it through to the last eight when Casper Ruud meets Francisco Cerundolo. The third match on court sees the American number one Taylor Fritz going up against the lucky loser Alex Walton who is making full use of his second chance in the event before Alex de Minaur looks to back up his excellent win over Joao Fonseca in the previous round. He plays Matteo Berrettini and we have an all-Czech battle to round off the show on Grandstand when Jakub Mensik meets Tomas Machac.

Betting

I like a couple of plays over on the Grandstand on Tuesday. Francisco Cerundolo did me a turn on Sunday night and I see no reason why the Argentine who loves it here in Miami can’t pick up another winner for me when he takes on Casper Ruud. Ruud is the more established of these two players but Cerundolo has won their last two hard court battles and he looked very composed and confident against Tommy Paul in the previous round. Ruud has come past a couple of solid challengers in Miomir Kecmanovic and Alejandro Tabilo but he was made to work hard by both of them. Against a player who is extremely comfortable here in Miami I think Ruud may just come up short here.

I’m tempted to back Matteo Berrettini because Alex de Minaur hasn’t had much recovery time from his epic win over Joao Fonseca on Monday but odds aren’t up at the time of writing. I will take Tomas Machac in the all-Czech clash which rounds off the action on the Grandstand though. Jakub Mensik has done well to make it through to this stage but there is a case to be made that he got Jack Draper at the right time and then he would have been expected to beat Roman Safiullin. Machac had to come through the match without much rhythm against Reilly Opelka in the last round but I think he’ll enjoy this one a lot more. That was the case when the two met in Acapulco a month ago when Machac came through in three sets and a similar outcome here wouldn’t surprise me. Machac went on to win in Mexico so his confidence is sky high here and as the more established player I expect him to have a bit too much for his countryman. I’m a little surprised that the exciting Machac isn’t a clearer favourite here but I’m happy to back him.
