Barbasol Championship – Final round betting preview and tip

There is a bunched leaderboard heading into the final round of the Barbasol Championship on Sunday which promises to provide us with an exciting conclusion to the tournament.

With the big names all in Scotland this is an opportunity for one of the lesser lights of the Tour to pick up a win and all the exemptions and points that go with it so we might see some nervy golf before the final putt is holed.

American duo Scott Piercy and Ricky Barnes lead the way going into Sunday. Both are sat on 13 under par with a group of five in behind them looking to topple them at the death. Piercy is looking for his first win since 2012 and he is the 3/1 favourite to get the job done here. Barnes has never won on Tour but he’s 7/1 to put that right.

The chasing group are headed by the local man Will Wilcox and Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo. Wilcox goes into the final round as the 6/1 second favourite with Grillo the same price. Grillo almost won one of these lesser events earlier in the season and he’ll be out to get it done this time. Jason Gore, Whee Kim and Mark Hensby make up the rest of the group and they are 10/1, 11/1 and 20/1 respectively.

Sadly the two blog picks who were in contention at halfway had rotten starts to their third round. David Toms never really recovered from that start but Andres Romero did and he goes into the final day four back which with the inexperience above him doesn’t totally rule him out. Aaron Baddeley found a 64 on Saturday to give himself a squeak.

With a couple of live outsiders still going I’m going to leave the outright market alone and look at the two balls for the final round.

Going into Sunday this has been a weekend for the amateurs with a batch of them going well at St Andrews and another one going well here in the form of Robby Shelton. I’m taking him on here though with his playing partner Johnson Wagner.

You would think the youngster will have a few nerves around him given how close he is in the biggest tournament he’s ever played in whereas this is all meat and drink for Wagner who lost a playoff in Houston earlier in the year and who was right in the mix on Sunday in the John Deere Classic last week.

I’m not suggesting Wagner will get it done here but he has the ability to go low under pressure on Sunday and I think he’ll have a little too much for the young amateur here.

Back J.Wagner to beat R.Shelton for a 4/10 stake at 1.83 with Bet365
