Belgian Darts Open 2022 – Last 16 Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The final day of the Belgian Darts Open takes place on Sunday when the 16 remaining men play down across two sessions of play until we find out who the champion is of the penultimate European Tour event of the campaign.

We saw some big names depart the scene on Saturday so there is a really open feel about proceedings on Sunday. We will preview the afternoon last 16 matches but time restrictions will deny us the chance to preview the final stages of the competition, although both of our outrights are still in so hopefully they progress to give us some evening interest.

First Four Matches

The action begins with two of the giant killers from Saturday in action when Niels Zonneveld takes on the first of our outright picks on show on the day in Andrew Gilding. Two European players follow them when Rusty-Jake Rodriguez goes up against Martin Schindler for a place in what would be a wide open quarter final. The pick of the last 16 matches is the third one on the day as Dirk van Duijvenbode meets Jonny Clayton before we get taken to the interval by Rob Cross and Gabriel Clemens.

Later Four Matches

Ryan Searle has made it into the final day and he will bring us out of the break. He takes on Jose de Sousa before we get to see the second of our outright bets on the stage as Dave Chisnall meets a Nathan Aspinall who must surely fancy his chances of lifting the silverware from here on in. The penultimate match of the afternoon sees Joe Cullen taking on the UK Open champion Danny Noppert before we conclude the session with the one remaining home player on show in Kim Huybrechts. He faces the former world champion Adrian Lewis.

Betting

There isn’t a huge amount that I like over the course of the session but I noticed that Danny Noppert mentioned on social media that he wasn’t happy with his performance and when you consider that he went into this tournament off the back of four defeats in five outings I wonder if confidence is a little on the low side. He has recently become a father so it might be that he isn’t getting to the practice board as often as he might and there has certainly been a drop off on his scoring in recent times.

He is still hitting a fair few 180s but the 140s and big tons seem to have disappeared and as a result, even though he isn’t missing many doubles his averages are in the low to mid 90s which suggests the consistency of his top gear scoring is missing. That isn’t the case with his opponent here Joe Cullen. He is scoring very well. His issues is missing too many doubles but I expect him to outscore Noppert in this match and as a result of that I’ll back him to take enough chances to get the win on the board.
