The final match of the exciting Big Bash League triple header on Sunday sees two sides who could do with a win doing battle when the Perth Scorchers play host to the Sydney Sixers in a battle of former champions.
Perth Scorchers have made a horror start to their campaign and need to find a winning formula pretty quickly if they are going to deliver the goods this term. Sydney Sixers are right in the mix for the top four but can’t afford to stall right now.
Perth Scorchers
It has been a horrific beginning to the season for the former champions Perth Scorchers, so often considered the most settled, and best team in the competition. They have barely been able to buy a run and their batting has struggled so much that not even their high quality bowling attack has been able to bail them out of trouble.
Whether we put it down to the change in venue, the change in coach from last season, or just too many players having poor runs of form at the same time, I’m not entirely sure, but the one thing that is a guarantee is that things have to turn around remarkably and quickly. If they can find some batting form there is no reason why they can’t build up a head of steam.
Sydney Sixers
The Sydney Sixers are in a decent position in this competition. After this match they have a run of home games and we already know that the worst their record will be heading into that is 4-4 for the season, so if they can make full use of home advantage this could still be a huge campaign for the men in magenta.
If we are being honest, their batting line up has had a bit of a charmed life and hasn’t always delivered the goods this term, but it only really has to make slightly above par scores to be both competitive in this event and win matches. That is the challenge for them in this match and when they return home in the games to come.
Team News
Perth Scorchers will be without Ashton Agar for this match as he picked up a late injury. Cameron Green comes in for him. Both Marsh brothers, Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff are away representing Australia.
Sydney Sixers have James Vince back in their ranks to replace Joe Denly who has headed off to the Caribbean with England. Tom Curran is around but Nathan Lyon is still representing Australia in the ODI series.

Betting
I like two bets in this match with the first of them being the Sydney Sixers, whose batting line up I just rely on more than I do the Perth Scorchers at the present time. The Sixers won the first match between these two and when you factor in some key weapons in the Scorchers bowling attack are missing here I only expect the Sydney side to have more of an advantage here and they can come out on top.
I’m not expecting a high scoring contest here I have to admit. I say that because while I think the Sydney Sixers’ batting line up is slightly better than the Scorchers one there isn’t a lot in it and although both teams are without some key bowlers I do still feel the ball will dominate the bat in this one. Matches at Optus Stadium have been low scoring this term and I’m expecting another here in which the 30.5 boundaries line is just a shade too high.
