Big Bash League – Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers Betting Preview

Potentially the most dangerous side in the Big Bash League meets the defending champions on Wednesday as the Melbourne Renegades welcome the Perth Scorchers to the Etihad Stadium in the latest match in the T20 frenzy.

The Renegades have a win and a defeat in the tournament to date. Their win came against the hapless Brisbane Heat with their defeat against the Sydney Sixers. In fairness a win over the Heat isn’t the greatest form guide so this match might tell us more about the chances of the Renegades this season.

The Scorchers have also played just two matches in the tournament and they too have beaten the Brisbane Heat. They lost to the Adelaide Strikers in their first match so like the Renegades we’ll only really find out about the Scorchers’ long term prospects this season in this match.

The Renegades have made two changes to their squad from the defeat to the Sixers. Out go Cameron Stevenson and Guy Walker and in come Cameron Gannon and Matt Short with the former having every chance of making the starting line up.

The Scorchers have also made two adjustments to their squad but one of them is very much a positive one as Shaun Marsh has been released from Australia duty to feature in the game. Matt Dixon also comes in and they replace Travis Birt and James Muirhead.

This should be a cracking game and once again we’ve got that age old T20 battle of powerful batting line up against dynamite bowling attack although in this case the Scorchers’ batting isn’t too shabby with the likes of Klinger, Marsh, Carberry and Willey all packing plenty of power.

Whenever this type of match comes around I’m always with the bowling side and that is no different here. We saw in the Renegades’ last match how bowling filth can go against them and with a similar attack I’m not convinced they’ll restrict the Scorchers enough.

The Scorchers have never lost this fixture and one of the reasons for that is their bowling attack and I’ll get behind it again here.
