Caribbean Premier League – Barbados Tridents vs Trinbago Knight Riders Betting Preview

There is another double header of action in the Caribbean Premier League on Saturday with the opening match of the two coming from the Kensington Oval in Barbados. It is the mid-table clash between the Barbados Tridents and the Trinbago Knight Riders.

Whoever wins this match will be in a position to push to finish in the top two in the table and give themselves a couple of goes at making the final whereas the losers will be fighting hard just to make it into the playoffs so this is an important match.

Barbados Tridents

The Tridents thrashed St Kitts and Nevis in their previous match to move into third place in the table and with two matches still to play at home this season they will be looking to push on from there and sustain a lofty position heading into the American leg of the season.

They have bowled really well in the tournament so far and if that continues over the next couple of weeks then they could easily claim this title once again. Even if they don’t bowl well with AB de Villiers in their ranks they are never going to be out of too many matches.

Trinbago Knight Riders

Trinbago began the away leg of their season with a win over the Guyana Amazon Warriors at the beginning of the week and having not played since Sunday they will be looking to keep up that form and go into this match fresh and not in the middle of a grind of matches which can be a real advantage at this stage of a campaign.

Hashim Amla is the leading run scorer in the tournament and if Brendon McCullum can fire alongside him then the Knight Riders’ bowlers are going to have plenty of runs to defend and with Sunil Narine and Dwayne Bravo in their attack that is likely to be a winning combination.

Betting

I think this is a good time to chance Trinbago Knight Riders. Hashim Amla is in great form and with Brendon McCullum likely to return and enjoy conditions here there is every chance that they get away from Barbados early on and we know they have the bowling attack to defend things should that be the case.

In the four matches Barbados have played in this tournament so far only AB de Villiers has gone past 100 runs for the competition so if Trinbago do get away from them and they can shackle the South African then the majority of the job could be done here.

If I was pricing it up I would probably have them 5/6 the pair so the 11/10 on offer on Trinbago looks to have enough value for me to take in the opening game of the two on Saturday.
