Caribbean Premier League – Jamaica Tallawahs vs Barbados Tridents Betting Preview

There are plenty more stars on show as the Caribbean Premier League says goodbye to Jamaica for this season on Wednesday night as the Jamaica Tallawahs host the Barbados Tridents in what should be another exciting match.

Jamaica have the chance to move three points clear at the top with a win here while Barbados will move to within a couple of points of them and still have a game in hand should they come away with the victory in this one so this is a key game for both sides.

Jamaica Tallawahs

Jamaica have been very successful in their home leg of the season so far. They have won all three matches they’ve played here and so far no opponent has put up 140 against them and when you look at that Tallawahs batting line up you need a lot more than 140 to beat it.

Chris Gayle hasn’t done a lot since the opening couple of games and clearly looks injured but it doesn’t matter when they have the likes of Kumar Sangakkara, Dale Steyn, Shakib-al-Hasan and Andre Russell in the form that they are in. Steyn plays his last match here.

Barbados Tridents

Barbados have been batting quite nicely in the tournament so far with the likes of AB de Villiers going along nicely without the fireworks we saw from him in the Indian Premier League. Instead those fireworks have been provided by Nicholas Pooran who is very much one to watch here.

If there is an issue with the Tridents it comes in the form of their bowling attack which has leaked runs at times in the tournament and that is the last thing that is needed when they are about to face the power of this Jamaica batting line up. AB de Villiers and Wayne Parnell will be playing their last games of the season here. EDIT: AB de Villiers and Wayne Parnell have already left to head home and won’t play here. Ahmed Shahzad replaces de Villiers.

Betting

You have to respect Jamaica’s record on this ground this season even though I have a concern about putting my money on them with Gayle’s injury status. On the flip side they have been winning games without him contributing so that is a positive but there is just something about them at this price which is putting me off.

With that in mind I’m going to side with the boundaries where actually I don’t think the line respects the amount of batting talent that is on display here. The line is 35.5 but when you think there were 33 here two matches ago despite a poor St Kitts and Nevis side being bowled out for just 75 we see the potential there is for this line to be covered.

Barbados are batting much better than St Kitts ever will and with the likes of Shoaib Malik, Nicholas Pooran and AB de Villiers capable of working any ball to the boundary not to mention Chris Gayle, Kumar Sangakkara, Andre Russell and Shakib we have more than enough boundary hitters to bring this line in.
