Caribbean Premier League – Jamaica Tallawahs vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots Betting Preview

The second match in the Caribbean Premier League on Saturday comes from Sabina Park as the Jamaica Tallawahs are back in action when they take on St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in what is a really big match for the visitors.

St Kitts and Nevis just haven’t got going at all this season and if they lose this match they can officially kiss goodbye to any chances they have of making it to the playoffs. A win for Jamaica here and they are bang on track for a place in the end of season showpiece.

Jamaica Tallawahs

The Tallawahs go into this match off the back of a pretty comfortable night’s work against Guyana on Friday night but now they face the acid problem of any side at home at a weekend where they have to play in successive nights and we’ve seen so often recently that it is never easy to do that.

Chris Gayle picked up an injury on Friday night and while he batted down the order it would be significant if he can’t back that match up and go again here but at least they have Andre Russell back now which is very much a positive.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

St Kitts and Nevis have just one win from six matches and I don’t need to tell anyone that is pretty pathetic but they still have four matches left to get something out of their debut season. Putting it simply they haven’t got going with the bat yet but with the pressure starting to come off it wouldn’t be a surprise if the likes of Lendl Simmons pin their ears back and get going now.

We saw the wicket take a bit of turn here in the previous match so they might well enjoy conditions here with their spin options although whether they can afford to give JJ Smuts another go with the ball after his towelling recently remains to be seen.

Betting

I’m quite often against the side who has to back up a match the next day and I’m going to be here too. I can’t say I’ve a huge amount of faith in St Kitts and Nevis Patriots but with the status of Chris Gayle unknown I think we have to take the chance on the away side knowing that even if Gayle plays Jamaica could be a little flat.

St Kitts and Nevis pretty much know they are playing for pride from here on in and that could free up their star players to deliver on this stage. At 11/8 I think the visitors are well worth a go as that price is immediately outstanding value if it isn’t Chris Gayle walking out to do the toss.
