Caribbean Premier League Playoffs – Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Jamaica Tallawahs Betting Preview

The Caribbean Premier League playoffs begin on Wednesday night when the Guyana Amazon Warriors take on the Jamaica Tallawahs with the winners heading straight through to Sunday’s final.

It isn’t the end for the losers here. They will get a second chance to make it to the final in a knockout match on Friday but nobody wants to get down to that stage when they can make life easier for themselves so we should be in for a compelling match here.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

The Warriors enjoyed themselves in Florida, beating the Barbados Tridents twice and never really ever looking in any trouble at any point. They were wins which saw them leap to the top of the table of if being the best team in the league phase means anything they have that base covered.

Nic Maddinson scored a few runs in Florida which will be perfect for his confidence going into the final series and on a true batting track in St Kitts he should flourish, as should the rest of the side. The key will be whether they can contain a powerful Jamaica batting line up.

Jamaica Tallawahs

If form and momentum heading into big matches is your thing then the Jamaica Tallawahs have issues. They lost both their matches in Florida and in truth were barely competitive in either of them. They are a side who follow the lead of their captain Chris Gayle. If he fires they all go with him but if he is out early they can be prone to struggles.

The biggest concern in Florida was how regularly their bowling attack was taken apart and that is something they can’t afford if they are to come through and win this tournament. All four sides in the playoffs are powerful with the bat and the team that bowls the best will probably win.

Betting

There is a lot of love in the markets for Jamaica for this game but I’m with the Guyana Amazon Warriors. I really like how all of their batsmen have delivered at times in this tournament and I think the variety in their attack will really suit this wicket.

Whenever they play I always worry for Jamaica if Chris Gayle doesn’t come off and he doesn’t look fit enough to massively fire in my eyes. I’m going to take Gayle out of the equation because he doesn’t come off enough these days anyway to justify 10/11 quotes and without him the better side both on paper and in the league phase is the Guyana team and at odds against they can prove good value here.
