Caribbean Premier League Playoffs – St Lucia Zouks vs Trinbago Knight Riders Betting Preview

We hit the knockout matches in the Caribbean Premier League on Thursday night when the St Lucia Zouks take on the Trinbago Knight Riders for the right to face the Jamaica Tallawahs in the semi-final of the tournament on Friday.

That is a nice reward for the winners but there is plenty of pressure around here as the losers will be done for the season and things don’t get much bigger than that. We can expect a really competitive game off the back of that.

St Lucia Zouks

The Zouks head into this match as the form side in the competition. They have won five of their last six matches including two emphatic wins over the Jamaica Tallawahs in Florida over the weekend. Both their batsmen and their bowlers have come good since their home leg of the season so St Lucia will fancy their chances.

The best thing to come out of their last couple of matches was a sign that all their batsmen are in decent nick. On a small ground and decent pitch to win this match a number of runs are going to have to be scored so the Zouks have that covered.

Trinbago Knight Riders

The Knight Riders go into this match off the back of a disastrous start to their double header in Florida when they never landed a blow on the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots but they got their revenge in the second game with a pretty solid win to end their league campaign.

The biggest thing to come out of that last win was some form for Brendon McCullum. He went down the order for that match in a move that seemed to work nicely but with William Perkins ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to an imposed ban the Knight Riders might need McCullum back up opening.

Betting

On the best prices for this match both sides can be backed at even money which suggests a 50/50 outlook but I don’t have it quite like that I have to say. I give the edge to St Lucia Zouks for this match. I wouldn’t say there is a huge amount in it but I do have the Zouks favourites.

They eased past Trinbago in the opening match of the tournament and they had them on toast before Umar Akmal played one of the all-time great knocks to get the Knight Riders out of trouble. Innings like that can happen but they don’t happen every day.

St Lucia are going along very nicely at the minute and that is with the bat and the ball and that confidence in both departments can send them through to another meeting with Jamaica on Friday.
