Caribbean Premier League – St Lucia Zouks vs Guyana Amazon Warriors Betting Preview

The Guyana Amazon Warriors will be looking to seal a spot in the top two of the Caribbean Premier League table on Sunday evening when they head to St Lucia to take on the St Lucia Zouks in a big game for both sides.

While the motivation is obvious for the Amazon Warriors it is no less for St Lucia Zouks who know a win in this match will take them third in the table and they would still have another home game to come to further enhance their position in the table.

St Lucia Zouks

The Zouks are 2 from 2 at home this season and as I’ve mentioned before that doesn’t surprise me because they have a side built for this wicket. They have aggressive batsmen who enjoy the ability to be able to trust the wicket and hit through the line of the ball and they have a bowling attack with plenty of variations who bowl wicket to wicket.

The thing that will please St Lucia the most is they have dominated with the bat and the ball in the two matches so far. They’ve looked on course for 170 with the bat in both matches and neither opponent have made 140 against them yet. That is a pretty decent combination.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

This will be Guyana Amazon Warriors’ first match in nine days so they have had plenty of time to work out what went wrong in their last game when they went down to Jamaica. Since then Martin Guptill has departed and although Nic Maddinson comes in he will need to hit the ground running.

Guyana can take some comfort from the fact they have already done a job on St Lucia this season but that wicket at Guyana will have been awful for the Zouks so that isn’t a surprise. This should be a much more even game of cricket.

Betting

If Guptill was still around for Guyana they might have been worth chancing here but I am slightly concerned that the Amazon Warriors have been off the field for so long and it might be that they need a few overs to get up to speed which isn’t a good position to be in.

St Lucia Zouks won’t have any of those issues. They are playing excellent cricket at the minute and they might well want to show Guyana what could have happened had they played on a true wicket in the reverse fixture.

In this tournament form and momentum and winning a run of matches in quick time has a real effect as we saw with Trinidad last year. St Lucia are on that sort of run at the minute and I think it can continue here.
