Caribbean Premier League – Trinbago Knight Riders vs Barbados Tridents Betting Preview

The third match in the Caribbean Premier League season sees the last two winners of the competition go head to head at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad when the Trinbago Knight Riders go up against the Barbados Tridents.

This will be the Knight Riders’ second match of the tournament after they lost to the St Lucia Zouks in the opening game on Wednesday and they will be out to make the most of it while the Tridents kick off their campaign here without much to lose.

Trinbago Knight Riders

There was never really a point in their first match where you thought Trinbago were ever on top of the Zouks and in the end the match ended how it had played out with an easy win for St Lucia. It is all well and good having a top bowling attack but on a good deck you still need to put up some runs.

162 never really looked like being enough but they shouldn’t panic because they have lots more to come from a batting line up in which Brendon McCullum only made 12 and Colin Munro just 11 at a run a ball so I would expect plenty more runs from them here.

Barbados Tridents

All eyes will be on AB de Villiers for the Tridents this season. In a batting line up which isn’t packed with the star names some other ones have with the exception of Kieron Pollard and Shoaib Malik the onus will be on de Villiers to deliver the goods as regularly as possible.

You would have to say that the bowling appears to be the strength of this Tridents side which is encouraging but that will mean nothing if they haven’t put up plenty of runs. Scoring runs against this Trinbago attack will be easier said than done though.

Betting

I think there is a lot more to come from the Trinbago Knight Riders here. I’ve already mentioned the improvement that is there in their batting but there isn’t going to be many times that Dwayne Bravo gets carted for 43 in his four overs.

Barbados will probably beat most sides in this tournament but I’m not sure how well they match up to the defending champions, as we saw in the final last year, and when you factor in that Trinbago flushed away the cobwebs in their opening match I think they’ll get their season up and running with a win here.
