Caribbean Premier League – Trinbago Knight Riders vs Jamaica Tallawahs Betting Preview

The last match of the Caribbean Premier League season in Trinidad sees the Trinbago Knight Riders taking on the Jamaica Tallawahs on Monday night with top spot up for grabs for the winner to add to the incentives around the match.

Things get more difficult for the Knight Riders after this match as they face six matches away from their own island while the Tallawahs have the knowledge that they have their home matches to come so can almost treat this as a bit of a freebie.

Trinbago Knight Riders

You would have to say the Knight Riders’ issues with their top order are beginning to become a real concern for them. Even in the previous match Colin Munro scored a century and they could only put up 162 which never really looked like being enough.

The other problem they are having which is a legacy of not scoring enough runs is teams can play out Sunil Narine’s overs and go mental off the other bowlers who aren’t really backing him up at the present time and that is leading to them really struggling. That is why their batsmen need to pile up the runs.

Jamaica Tallawahs

Jamaica have already been to St Kitts and Nevis and survived a Devon Thomas onslaught to win a match which was a great deal more comfortable than the eventually winning scoreline suggested and you would think there is a whole lot more to come from them too.

The Tallawahs used to be a side which relied wholeheartedly on Chris Gayle and Andre Russell which was a lot of pressure for two men to carry so the likes of Kumar Sangakkara and Dale Steyn being around will really help them throughout the course of the season. It will help them here too against a side who aren’t firing at the top of their order.

Betting

I’m not sure it is possible for Trinbago to solve the issues they have in the time they have had to do it so the logical play is to take Jamaica Tallawahs here. There haven’t been many times in this tournament in history that we’ve been able to get this sort of price on Jamaica but I’m going to take advantage of that.

We shouldn’t necessarily write off the Knight Riders here because they came from the clouds last season to land the title but they are going to need to play with their backs against the wall again and that is never easy.

I’m not sure pressure ever exists around Chris Gayle and friends but it certainly doesn’t here and with them having the freedom to swing from the hip I’m expecting that to be trouble for Trinbago. I’m with Jamaica here.
