Surrey won their third County Championship title in a row last season and they will be looking to be the first team since the Surrey class of 1958 to claim a fourth success in succession. That will be their driving force this term but a white ball trophy would be nice at The Oval too.

Strengths
Any team that wins the County Championship these days has to bat a long way down and Surrey certainly do. They have been known to have players with First-class centuries at number 10 in their order which is insane batting strength and the fact that England look to have moved on from Ben Foakes, Dom Sibley and Rory Burns is certainly no bad thing for the Brown Caps. Any team that takes 20 wickets against Surrey will have bowled very well.

Weaknesses
If there is one thing that Surrey do lack it is a top class spinner. They have a couple of part-time options that can get the job done but generally their seamers are so good, especially with the new ball, that Surrey look for their spinners to be economical rather than wicket takers. It might be why their recent white ball record could be better than it has been. Don’t be surprised if an overseas spinner comes in for the latter part of the campaign.
Trophy Prospects
Surrey are very much the team to beat in the County Championship this season and whoever does finish ahead of them will win the title you feel. They have appointed Sam Curran as T20 captain and he will be expected to deliver gold in that competition as well. Surrey will probably be denied a shot at a clean sweep of trophies by The Hundred call ups hindering their chances in the One Day Cup, although even then their side wouldn’t be the worst.
England Duty
As ever England will come to Surrey regularly with Jamie Smith likely to be in all formats throughout the summer along with Gus Atkinson while Jamie Overton looks booked in for the white ball cricket. Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Tom Curran, Dan Lawrence and even Dan Worrall are others who could be called up this summer but the door looks to have closed for Rory Burns, Ben Foakes and Dom Sibley for now.
Predicted Championship Finishing Position: 1st
