CPL 2017 – Barbados Tridents vs Guyana Amazon Warriors Betting Preview

The Caribbean Premier League rolls into Barbados for the first time on Tuesday night as we head towards the conclusion of the league phase of the tournament. Barbados Tridents play their first home match of the campaign against the Guyana Amazon Warriors and it is a fairly big game.

These two sides sit either side of the cut off for the play-offs with the Warriors one spot above the Tridents heading into the contest. That makes this a massive game for the home side and one they can barely afford to lose.

Barbados Tridents

The former champions need a solid home leg of the tournament if they are to make it into the play-offs and get the chance to reclaim their title. They have lacked consistency throughout the campaign although that can be understandable given that they have been on the road so far. Home surroundings should allow them to be more consistent.

One of the issues they need to address is a batting line up which is not functioning as one. They have produced a lot of individual performances, with many of them coming from Kieron Pollard, but they have not batted as a unit yet setting the innings up for the power that comes in down the order. They are dangerous if they can do that.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

The Guyana side have disappointed throughout the tournament and after an indifferent home leg of the season they are clinging on to a play-off place by a thread. They will get a better grip on it if they can win this match but if they lose it they will be sitting ducks in the battle for that final place so this is huge.

Guyana have really struggled with the bat. I guess that is to be expected with the way the wicket plays at their home ground and they will be hoping a return to a ground with the ball comes onto the bat will help them. If it does then they are entitled to believe they have ever chance of winning this match.

Team News

The Barbados Tridents will have the England limited overs captain Eoin Morgan available to them for this match. He will bolster their batting line up ahead of this home leg of the tournament.

Guyana Amazon Warriors will be without Martin Guptill who has flown home or a family reason. Luke Ronchi arrives after a spell at Leicestershire and should be in town in time to debut in this one.

Betting

I’ve been waiting for the tournament to get into Barbados where the batsmen can have a bit of fun again and as such I am expecting a decent scoring match here. In an ideal world the Guyana Amazon Warriors will be in better touch with the bat but I am convinced they will fare better on this better batting wicket.

Eoin Morgan brings a new dimension to the Barbados Tridents batting line up so I am expecting a much better all-round batting performance from them too and all of that can lead us to a match with more than 301.5 runs in total.
