CPL 2017 Final – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs Trinbago Knight Riders Betting Preview

The final of the Caribbean Premier League takes place on Saturday night and it is a repeat of the first qualifier which was held earlier in the week. That means St Kitts and Nevis Patriots take on the Trinbago Knight Riders for the title.

These two sides have met three times this season already. The Knight Riders won the first two matches but the Patriots got their revenge when it mattered most in the play-offs. This should be a cracking finale.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

Chris Gayle’s men have had four days to prepare for this final although I dare say they never needed them given that they are facing the same opponent that they beat in their previous match. They won that match via their bowlers and that will have done them no harm at all as prior to that they had been winning through their batsmen.

If it all happens to come together in this final then the Patriots could be a very tough nut to crack. In Evin Lewis and Chris Gayle they have arguably the most explosive opening pairing in the competition and they have many options in their bowling attack who can deliver the goods in all sorts of conditions.

Trinbago Knight Riders

After topping the table through the regular season the Trinbago Knight Riders were forced to make this final the hard way after they were beaten in the first qualifier. They came past Guyana Amazon Warriors in what was a knockout second qualifier though which should have boosted their confidence ahead of this final.

Trinbago went well with the bat in the second match and I think that was needed because prior to that they had come off the wagon in that discipline. Their bowling attack is very solid too and we saw that in that qualifier so they should be starting to feel good about themselves again as they seek the title.

Team News

We don’t truly know what St Kitts and Patriots are going to do with their side. We’ve seen many changes to all teams this week but we do know that there is no need for them to change.

Yasir Shah arrived for the Trinbago Knight Riders prior to the previous match and he should come on for the run so to speak. They may well be unchanged as they chase down a title on home soil.

Betting

I’m not betting on this final myself because I have already backed St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to win the tournament before a ball was struck so I’m on them at 5/1 for this final and I am happy to stick with that.

Anyone who hasn’t yet backed St Kitts and Nevis they would be my pick if I wasn’t already on them so I certainly wouldn’t put anyone off taking them but there is no need to double up personally so I’ll leave the final alone.
