CPL 2017 – Guyana Amazon Warriors vs St Lucia Stars Betting Preview

The Caribbean Premier League heads to Guyana for the final time this season on Tuesday night when the Guyana Amazon Warriors host the St Lucia Stars in a clash between the bottom two in the CPL table.

Given their nightmare start to the campaign, the St Lucia Stars are all but out of the tournament, but the Guyana Amazon Warriors are very much still alive heading into their final home game of the season.

The Warriors finally made home advantage count in their previous game when they came out all guns blazing with the bat to shoot down the Barbados Tridents. They need to build on that now and win this final match at Providence and if they do that they will be in the top four at the end of the night.

Heading into their home leg there were question marks over their batting and it took until the third match for them to employ a pinch hitter. That move worked a treat so it will be interesting to see if they repeat the tactic here. If they do and it works then they are certain to have a bowling attack to be competitive in this one.

St Lucia Stars

Rock bottom St Lucia Stars are still looking for their first win in the tournament. They finally managed their first point of the competition when they took part in a washed out clash in St Kitts on Sunday night. With just three matches left in their campaign though they need to win out and even then it is unlikely to keep them in the tournament.

The reason why St Lucia are as good as out of the competition already has been their batting. On paper it looks one of the strongest units in the entire tournament, but when it has come to performing on the wicket they just haven’t got going, with the exception of Andre Fletcher, who is their one success story of the event.

Team News

It would be a surprise if the Guyana Amazon Warriors make any changes to their side after finally winning a match on home soil. Only a late injury or illness will affect their plans.

St Lucia Stars could decide to give game time to those who are yet to have it, but strictly speaking they are not completely out of the tournament, so that might have to wait.

Betting

When these two met in St Lucia earlier in the season the Guyana Amazon Warriors literally fell over the line and given that this is a must win match for the home side I wonder if the added pressure on them to win the game will see them crack.

St Lucia Stars are playing for nothing whatsoever here and a side with the likes of Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher, Shane Watson and Marlon Samuels in their top four really have the potential to be dangerous.

Guyana finally broke their home duck last time out but if Chadwick Walton was to go early I wonder what they have left in reserve. At the prices, given the freedom they are going to play with I think St Lucia are the value call in this one.
