CPL 2017 – Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Trinbago Knight Riders Betting Preview

The second match of four from Guyana in this year’s CPL season takes place on Saturday afternoon when the Guyana Amazon Warriors take on the seemingly runaway leaders Trinbago Knight Riders in a big game for both sides.

We are heading towards a position where the Knight Riders can secure a top two finish with a couple more wins while the Amazon Warriors will be looking for a win of their own to get among the top four pack.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

The Guyanese side are likely to still be reeling from a heart-breaking defeat to the Jamaica Tallawahs on Thursday night. They dominated the contest for near enough its entirety but could not produce the one big shot they needed late on in their run chase to get over the line. In the end they went down by two runs.

That batting effort was a concern in the end and it could see a change of approach. Whether that means keeping the same batting order and asking them to be more aggressive or sending a pinch hitter up the order to get the run rate going remains to be seen. On the flip side they do have a solid looking bowling attack at least.

Trinbago Knight Riders

We might find out a little more about the Trinbago Knight Riders over the next couple of matches. It could be that they are top of the league because they have had their home leg of the tournament already. On the flip side it could be that they are in this position because they truly are the best team in the competition.

One thing we know for sure is that their bowling attack is for real. It offers no respite and the worrying thing for the Guyana side is that this lot can play near enough 20 overs of spin and slower balls and not lose any control. The negative of that is their batsmen may not enjoy the slower pace in the wicket.

Team News

Guyana Amazon Warriors may look down their order and decide that they want another batsman in place after their poor run chase in the last game. If they go down that route Assad Fudadin could be the one to come in.

Trinbago Knight Riders could be looking to bring another spinner into their ranks. Nikita Miller would have every chance of featuring if they wicket is as slow as the previous one here.

Betting

The first match at Providence this season was a low scoring match and I am not expecting much different here. This is the lowest scoring ground in the Caribbean Premier League and two pretty decent attacks will be bowling on it here.

While there is a bit of power in the Trinbago Knight Riders’ bowling attack it must be said that the dead nature of this surface makes timing the ball and hitting sixes very difficult. We barely saw any in the match here on Thursday night and despite the power Trinbago possess I’m not expecting many here either.
