CPL 2017 – Saturday 12th August Matches Betting Preview

There are two matches in the Caribbean Premier League on Saturday night as we get set for a big night of CPL action. The table is starting to take shape now and with the top three in action across these two games there is an important feel about the night.

St Lucia Stars vs St Kitts & Nevis Patriots

Two sides who have had very different starts to the competition meet in the opening match of the night when the St Lucia Stars take on the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Darren Sammy Stadium.

The Stars have played three and been well beaten in all three so far in this competition while the Patriots have played twice and come through on both occasions. I mentioned in their last game how the Stars needed a performance with the bat for their own confidence but it never came and that is becoming a real concern now.

There is no weakness in the Patriots side and you often find confidence can be a big thing in these franchise like tournaments. It might not be the biggest price in the world but with the problems the Stars have with the bat facing the likes of Samuel Badree, Hasan Ali and Mohammad Nabi is the last thing they need. I’m with the Patriots here.

Trinbago Knight Riders vs Barbados Tridents

Two sides who have made excellent starts to their campaigns meet in the second match of the night when the Trinbago Knight Riders host the Barbados Tridents at the Queens Park Oval.

Trinbago have looked every bit the side who were the tournament favourites before a ball was bowled in this competition but Barbados have gone along almost under the radar if two blitzes from Kieron Pollard can go unnoticed.

I’m not one to take on the Knight Riders willy nilly but I’ve mentioned a lot over the last few weeks how it can be difficult to back up a performance the very next day and that is what Trinbago have to do here. They are helped that both matches are on the same ground but it still isn’t ideal.

Barbados are not the best side in this competition but they have match winners in their ranks with the bat and a bowling attack that can hold their own and given the schedule favours them I’m with the visitors here.
