CPL 2018 – Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Trinbago Knight Riders Betting Preview

The final match of the Caribbean Premier League regular season takes place on Sunday night when the Guyana Amazon Warriors host the Trinbago Knight Riders in what is a huge match for the home side.

After their battering by Jamaica Tallawahs on Saturday night the Guyana Amazon Warriors know that they must win this to get two bites at the cherry in the play-offs. If they lose they will be playing knockout cricket straight away. Trinbago already have top spot sewn up regardless of what happens here.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

It was a truly bad day at the office from the Guyana Amazon Warriors on Saturday. I thought it all started with the strange decision to play Chris Green as captain. There were so many better options to lead the side than him if they were changing captain. That smacked me as a strange move and their day never really got better.

In fairness to them they batted pretty well on what can be a challenging wicket in Guyana but as far as their bowling went the whole performance just smacked of a side under an unsure captain and they paid the price royally. It will be interesting to see if they make another change or if they look to pursue their selection again.

Trinbago Knight Riders

It is becoming the perfect campaign for the Trinbago Knight Riders. Generally these tournaments are won by the team who make the postseason in the best form and they are playing about as well as anyone right now and will have two attempts to make the final and bid to defend their title, should they need them.

Nothing is wrong with the Knight Riders at all at the minute. They are batting very well even though they are mixing up their lineup to ensure everyone they need to be in form is so and when it comes to the ball any issues they had earlier in the tournament look to have been sorted out. They suddenly look the team to beat.

Team News

All eyes will be on the toss here to see who captains the Guyana Amazon Warriors in this match. If Rayad Emrit is not available it will be interesting to see if they go with Chris Green again or use someone else.

Trinbago Knight Riders will be forced into a change with Chris Lynn having exited stage left to go back for the Australian domestic season. Colin Ingram comes in to replace him and will feature here. Brendon McCullum could go up to open.

Betting

This doesn’t feel like a match to get too involved in. I say that because Trinbago Knight Riders do not need to win while the Guyana Amazon Warriors do but Guyana are backing up a performance from the night before and as we all know by now that is not easy. If this was competitive for Trinbago I’d be all over them but I can’t back them at odds on when they are playing for nothing. I will take a top bat for interest though.

Denesh Ramdin is in pretty decent form right now and it looks like the brains trust have moved him up to three regularly. He might end up at four if Ingram bats above him but he’s still decent value at 13/2. You have to be able to play spin well in Guyana and Ramdin can certainly do that. This is not the sort of place for massive cameos so the solid style of Ramdin could be the one to follow.
