CPL 2018 – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs Guyana Amazon Warriors Betting Preview

After a night off the Caribbean Premier League is back on Tuesday evening and it heads to Warner Park for the first time in the tournament as the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots begin their home leg of the competition. They take on Guyana Amazon Warriors in a juicy looking clash.

The winner of this match will move into the top two as they chase a couple of bites of the cherry in the play-offs but with games in hand of the other sides they should both be able to play with an air of freedom which should in turn give us an excellent contest.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

When you think that the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have played only home matches in this tournament so far, to have three wins to their name is a wonderful return and if they can make full use of their home run they will be in a very good position with regards not just qualifying for the play-offs but going into the qualifier rather than the eliminator.

They have won their last two matches in fine style with their bowlers leading the way and setting up pretty comfortable run chases on both occasions. If you had to be picky you would like their top order to fire up and get explosive. If that happens then this side are going to take a heck of a lot of beating.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

The Guyana Amazon Warriors were going along very nicely but they ran into the St Lucia Stars on the wrong night and dropped to a disappointing defeat to them. They will be eager to make up for that here especially as they have had half of their home leg of the tournament. A win here will have them in a decent enough position.

The strength and indeed the weakness of the Warriors is pretty obvious to see. They have been very strong with the ball but have sometimes been found wanting with the bat especially if Shimron Hetmyer has fallen early. That might be a legacy of playing their home matches on a tacky wicket but it is something they will need to address if possible.

Team News

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are without Sandeep Lamichhane from here on in. That could see someone like Jeremiah Louis come back into the side although Alzarri Joseph will be hoping for a recall too.

Guyana Amazon Warriors will be without their captain Shoaib Malik now as he has joined up with the Pakistan squad ahead of the Asia Cup. Riyad Emrit will lead the side in his absence with Chris Green expected to come in for Malik.

Betting

I like the home side here. I think the Guyana Amazon Warriors are really going to miss Shoaib Malik if not with the bat, where actually I think he will be missed, then in the field with his calmness and cool nature under pressure is underrated. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots begun this tournament slowly with the ball but they have come on very strong in recent matches and with their batting starting to ignite they can get the job done on what is usually a good wicket to bat on at Warner Park.

Ben Cutting is enjoying a decent enough season and I think he holds claims to be the man of the match here. I sense a big hitter is going to get this prize but the beauty of backing Cutting is not only can he bang the ball out of the park but he can take wickets too. Chris Gayle is getting more comfortable with using him with the ball and as such the Australian is bowling in the tougher situations. That is when the wickets usually fall so with two very strong eye catching options the 16/1 on Cutting being the man of the match looks a touch big to me.
