CPL 2025 – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs Guyana Amazon Warriors Tips and Betting Preview

The Caribbean Premier League continues on Friday night when the second match of the CPL 2025 campaign takes place with us once again back at Warner Park for the clash between the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The Patriots got their season up and running with a comfortable win on Thursday night and will want to make it two from two here but the Amazon Warriors should be a much tougher test as they look to open their campaign with a win.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots made the ideal start to their season on Thursday night when they thrashed the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. I don’t think that they will be under any illusions that they will face greater tests than the one the Falcons gave them so it was important to get the win in that game. The fact that they did it well enough to give them an early advantage on net run rate was an added bonus and if they come on for the run they should be hard to beat here.

The bowlers were the ones wo set up the match for the Patriots on Thursday night and that is definitely no bad thing because if the bowlers can excel on this tiny ground then they definitely have the firepower and depth with the bat to get the job done. You could just tell that this was a Patriots outfit who had forgotten the previous two abject campaigns and if they can win here, and already match their tally of wins for the past two seasons combined, then they will be looking pretty early in the piece.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

Usually when a team starts a new season you would expect them to need a run or two to get up to speed with the competition, especially when they are facing a side who have already played in the tournament, but that might not be the case for the Guyana Amazon Warriors because they were competing in the Global Super League recently which should have been a decent preparation for this event. While there is no certainty that they hit the ground running, there is nothing to suggest they will struggle like Antigua and Barbuda did.

The strength of this Amazon Warriors side is the spin bowling resources that they have but that would be taking away the focus from the power and brute force that they have. If there is a concern about Guyana going into their opening match here it could come in the fact that they don’t have a settled opening pairing and it will be interesting to see who they operate with there. The openers don’t need to do much other than get the innings going because there are plenty more batters to come to accelerate the scoring.

Key Players

Waqar Salamkheil is a regular in the CPL and he got off to an excellent start on Thursday night with four wickets in the opening game. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will be hoping that he has saved some wickets for this match too.

Moeen Ali would be one of the potential candidates to open the batting for the Amazon Warriors. Whether he does or not he will be key with the ball with his off spin canny enough to halt the St Kitts and Nevis progress.

Betting

I’m tempted to back the Guyana Amazon Warriors here. They have won the last four meetings between these two sides but the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots look a whole lot better this time around than they have in the last two seasons. Instead I’m going to head back to the sixes which let me down on Thursday night but the Guyana Amazon Warriors’ batting looks a lot stronger than the Antigua and Barbuda one did and as a result of that more sixes should come naturally here.

There were 11 sixes here on Thursday night in a match where the first innings score was 121 which highlights the potential for them to come along and do so fairly regularly. When these two met here last season 266/7 played 226 and while the Patriots’ bowling attack is much stronger here, the Guyana one hasn’t really changed so there is nothing to suggest the home side won’t plough the sixes again. That match contained a straight up ridiculous 42 sixes and while this one won’t get anywhere near that number, there is nothing to suggest it won’t reach 16.
