Euro 2020 Qualifying – Sunday 24th March Matches Betting Preview

The second set of matches in the qualifying tournament for Euro 2020 begins on Sunday when four groups go at it once again, three days after beginning their campaigns. Those who were successful on Thursday can put themselves in a good early position while those not so fortunate will be keen to get on the board.

We have a real heavyweight battle on the card on Sunday while three home nations take to the pitch once again on a day of huge interest for many sides right across Europe. We have three kick off times too so there is a lot to enjoy here.

Group C

This is the group where the really big clash of the day is situated as the Netherlands host Germany in a battle for the ages. Nations League semi-finalists Netherlands won their opening match 4-0 while this is the first game of the campaign for Germany. The other match in the group sees Northern Ireland looking to build on their win on Thursday when they take on a Belarus side who were thumped in their first game.

Group E

Wales get their qualifying campaign underway in the opening match of the day in this group. They warmed up for their match with Slovakia with a laboured win over Trinidad & Tobago on Wednesday and will be hoping to take advantage of that quiet build up. The other match in the group sees Hungary going up against Croatia in a match the World Cup finalists will need to play better in than they did on Thursday.

Group G

Three matches make up the schedule in Group G on Sunday. That action begins in Israel where they host Austria in the early kick off. Later in the evening Poland will be looking to be too good for Latvia while in the other match in the section Slovenia host a Macedonia side who continue to show huge improvement since the start of the Nations League.

Group I

Three more matches take place in Group I where in the middle of the trio of fixtures Scotland will look to put that humbling by Kazakhstan behind them when they head to San Marino in a clash they will know they have to win, and win convincingly if they are to have any chance of making it out of the group. Prior to then, Kazakhstan host Russia and then later in the evening Cyprus host Belgium in a clash of two sides who had big wins on Thursday.

Betting

It is a busy day on Sunday and I will go with a couple of bets over the course of it beginning with a Scotland side who have the perfect match to respond to that shambles on Thursday. They will beat San Marino. The question is by how many but with the minnows having already played a match and been walloped 5-0 by Cyprus I’m expecting Scotland to run up the scores here. That defeat on Thursday will be a good thing for us punters as they will be determined to score as many as possible. Andy Robertson is back to provide a better balance and service too which will help. San Marino are traditionally terrible in their second match of these quick fire double headers and Scotland can take advantage of that here.

Later in the night I think the Netherlands are worth a bet against a Germany side who look to have huge problems right now despite the insanely good talent that is at their disposal. Germany had a terrible World Cup and things got no better in the Nations League, where they were in a group with the Netherlands and went to Amsterdam and lost 3-0. It might not be as convincing here but these are two sides going in opposite directions at the minute. The Netherlands are on the up and Germany need something to happen. With the draw cover that is available I’m with the home side here.
