Euro 2020 Qualifying – Thursday 14th November Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The final week of qualifying for Euro 2020 begins on Thursday evening when three groups play their penultimate match of the competition with plenty on the line for a number of sides as they go in search of a finals spot.

From a home point of view England have the chance to reach the finals on Thursday night while the likes of Turkey, Czech Republic, France and Portugal all have the chance to secure their spot in the finals.

Group A

There will be a strong expectation at Wembley Stadium as England go in search of their qualification when they host Montenegro. Gareth Southgate’s men need just a point to guarantee their progression in the event. The other qualifying spot could be secured on Thursday evening as well as the Czech Republic will be back in the finals if they can get the better of Kosovo. If the visitors win they will control their destiny in the last set of games on Sunday which is a pretty big incentive.

Group B

The leaders Ukraine have already made it through to the finals but it is the other four teams in action on Thursday night with two of them looking to bolster their chances. Portugal could actually qualify on Thursday. They will need to win their home match with Lithuania and if they do that all eyes will be on the Serbia result as if they lose at home to Luxembourg the defending champions will be through. Were Serbia to win the race for second place goes down to Sunday.

Group H

The match of the night comes in this group on Thursday evening and it is the early kick off where Turkey go in search of the point they need to make it through. Iceland will take it down to the last match day if they win. France will be confirmed as qualifiers if they match Iceland’s result later in the night, so there is a chance they are already through by the time they host Moldova. Albania and Andorra meet in the other match with pride all that is at stake for the pair.

Betting

I’m focusing my attention on Group A for bets on Thursday night with the first bet coming from Wembley where I expect England to qualify with a few goals when they take on Montenegro. The reverse match finished 5-1 to England and there was still more in an English side getting racially abused throughout the game. Wembley should have a party type atmosphere here for England to revel in and with the likes of James Maddison and Marcus Rashford likely to get chances to show their worth and Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham waiting in the wings for their chance too. Montenegro have nothing to gain by sitting in and containing and Kosovo and Czech Republic have both troubled England. The goal line here is 3.75 which England could well cover themselves but given that anything Montenegro gets adds to the pots I’ll take the over.

In the other match I like the idea of both the Czech Republic and Kosovo finding the back of the net. There is a school of thought that Kosovo might sit in and take their chances on the final day but I don’t really see the point of that because they are guaranteed a playoff spot and even if England have qualified Kosovo will have their work cut out to beat them on Sunday. This is their chance to get things in their own control so they should go at the Czechs. Czech Republic showed against England that they can be tough to beat on their own patch so at a fair price I’ll take both to score.
